Got out with my coach again this afternoon. He is getting ready to go to the Nats and wanted to work out a few bugs.
What a fun afternoon. On my last flight the wind was dead. Plane almost fell out of the the air after hitting my wake. Did not want to put the plane at risk so flew it out. Was still a great end to a stressful day at work. ;)

Whoooooo Buddy))))) back atcha Paul)))))) Nice pattern. Loved when your coach whooped on the hourglass.
Good to see all is secure and locked down tight and on the lines in Sector 8. Southern Sector.
We got out to fly tonight too....just a sweet calm and cool night up here.

Paul, your mentor has at least told you how to deal with dead air?
Basically, the trick is to step back about a wingspan per loop, so that you're always flying in clean air. Trying to do this gracefully takes practice, so it's something that you should spend some time on at some point. Dead air is a lot less common than real wind at contests, but you should be ready for anything.

Shug - Jim is a great coach. After each flight we talk about what to tweak. Always a word of encouragement too.
Tim- I learned some time ago to take a step back. My problem was we got a down pour the night before and there were large puddle all around me. I did not want to slop around. 😉

Hi Paul, Overall a nice pattern! Need to work on the definition of all the corners in the square maneuvers though! I liked you music and the overall peacefulness of the evening! Generally I work many evenings and that keeps me out of evening flying plus the fact that my flying field is 52 miles away one way!
Please remember me to The Coach!
