There have been some fairly intense, sometimes heated discussions on here, which is all fine and good. For the most part discussion remains polite and civil. But there are times when it just turns stupid.
I’m not going to name names, but it seems like the perpetrators of stupidity and discontent tend to use an alias rather than their real name. I honestly cannot think of an instance where verbal excrement was being spread by someone using his real name, but two or three people using aliases instantly come to mind.
I know Sparky requires registration here with your real name, and then allows you to change your user name at will.
Given the pattern of trolling exhibited at times by some who use an alias, I would suggest that REQUIRING the use of a real name as your user name might go far to eliminate the BS that can develop here.
Hiding behind anonymity can make people brave. Eliminating that anonymity might reduce the number of keyboard commandos we have to put up with.
