Al's at it again with a new Bearcat stunt ship under construction. Hold onto your toy airplanes.
Actually, this molded shell is part of a 10% oversize BBQB Bearcat. Kyle liked my control line stunt BBQB Bearcat and decided to build a larger one for radio control. Again, why copy a control line stunt ship? Well, he liked the airplane and had developed files already for laser cutting kits of laser cut parts for the BBQB which could be enlarged 10% to exactly fit oversize construction. When he gave up cutting kits for stunt he passed on the completed molds and shells. You know 10% actually isn't that much larger. I think it would be possible to pull these oversize shells onto stock BBQB bulkheads. The basic shape is already molded in.

If we competed in the same circles I'd give you a diorama of a radio tech arguing with a pilot (the radio tech would look an awful lot like my dad -- he spent some Quality Time at the end of the deck with an 8mm camera to prove that the antennas were too snapping off because they were hitting the deck).

Yea, He's gunna havta paint it WHITE , If he sparays it outside again . That looks like a WHITE CAR . Any other colour the Overspay'll show up. Tho the red one looked really cool with the ' blue mist ' finish . :## S?P
On a less flipant note , Reg Towell is underway here on one of your Sea Furies . Whichll be good to see ' in the flesh ' . the Aeroplane that is . Think he mightve been saying ' September Pops ' for the colours , but his
latest Beringer derived one is, so maybe its both. Save on costs of the masks, that way . Yellow with red winy things.

I've found that when building semi-scale stunt ships it works best to use recognizable paint jobs and scale like features like the shape of the vertical fin, wing root and tips. cowling, spinner and canopy. In my opinion a semi-scale Bearcat, in order to be recognizable as a Bearcat must have at minimum a Navy finish and canopy. The racing paintjobs shown on these posts are impressive in their own right but omitting a scale canopy would be too much. A racing canopy removes a major recognition feature.

Definitely valid and respected points Al, but it sure would be fun to see you do a racer version of your Bearcat. I know a past concern with the idea was the clipped wings. For this C/L purpose I think you could leave the wing full span and just copy the wingtip treatment and paint scheme of whatever subject is chosen. Done to your normal standards the model would still be very recognizable. You pulled off this concept perfectly with Critical Mass, which is still one of the coolest C/L models of all time IMO. y1

Hi Al,
Just thinking how cool this Bearcat would look with retracts! The circuit can be made quite easily if you want one, and the modern electric retracts are simple as well. You could even set the speed of pulling the gear up or make one go in before the other etc. The old idea from a published circuit used a small microphone on the board and as soon as the engine quits, it pops the wheels out. With all of that space inside that nose and fuselage, the same circuit could be used with a small servo to shut off the engine as well, so you don't have to wait for the fuel to run out completely. Just a thought.........and yes, I am volunteering to make this gadget for you! Be well.

I agree with Al on it needs to be done in Navy scheme. I think it needs to stay the way Al has his paint scheme done. I wouldn't change anything. He is right.....most people recognize the Bearcat in that scheme and color.
