How embarrassing. When I was building I certainty made little attempt to hide my gut. Most of my life, when working as an airline pilot I weighed about 175 lbs When I built that airplane and made the videos I was up to 205 before getting my weight back under control. I started the weight down about twelve years ago and have held my weight to an average 145 for the past 6 years now and intend to keep it that way. Sorry for the explanation, but I just couldn't rest comfortably thinking that your readers would have that vision of my at my worst.
Also, I was flattered that Sparky would want to use some of my stuff on his web site. The Bearcat is a long, tough building series beginning with the necessity of learning to make full fuselage molds and shells. Very few people have built and flown BBQB Bearcats. The ones who finished and flew their airplanes praised its performance and generally liked the lengthy construction. Here are some photos of a BBQB built by Larry Draughn using just the kit and 15 videos and asked for no help. Also, the 15 DVD set of video used to sell for $150. I haven't since considered pushing the set for sale.
Most of my articles have now been published elsewhere. Note particularly the Book two directory. Some subjects still available unpublished would be: Designing the Critical Mass ,3 disks; Making Molds and Shells, 2 disks; and The Profile Bearcat, 5 disks. Al's Models book one, at the time, never intending more, but I kept adding material to fill Book two, and book 3 which today fill Al's Models disk 4. It takes a lot of of material to fill that DVD, In fact, 187,426 words, 1601 pages of text and photos.
