Hello,
Just started building my sons akromaster. No plans of course...
Anyone know where the bellcrank should be centered? Would it be just under/between the two spars?? ???
If this is the correct location, I'll need to gouge out some balsa from the spars so the bolt will fit. Not too crazy about that idea.
No mention of this in the instructions. ???
Thanks,
-Danny H^^

Doesn't really matter, except that you need clearance at the LE. Behind the spar 1/4" would be fine. Use some blocking to tie the BC plate to the spar and center sheeting. Keeping the BC/Flap pushrod as long as possible is a good thing, to reduce rotational distortion of the response rate. If you're not making the flaps fuctional, then it is not a concern. Personally, I'd be happy with a strip of 1/8" 5-ply birch that's as long as the center section sheeting, 3/4" wide, lapped over the lower spar and blocked on the bottom side to the sheeting. You could poke some lightening holes in the outboard side. Nothing more worthless than a nice plane with broken controls. HB~> Steve

This is a model cloned from the Akro, bellcrank position the same. Head of pivot bolt sits on the spar.
