Title: Airplane Identity Question
Post by: Les McDonald on September 24, 2009, 11:48:07 AM
In the Sep/Oct issue of Stunt News, on page four, there is a group photo taken at Brodak.
To the left of the picture I see a plane named "Exel" and am curious as to who this may be.
The trim scheme and colors are very similar to Vince Schnetzers Stilettos from the 1976/1979 era and would really like to know more about the plane and it's owner.
Vinces' planes were crafted beautifully and he used tans and browns on everything he built, that's why my eyes were drawn to that picture.

Hi Les,

That is Alan Buck's Exel, and if I remember right he had a PA 51 in it.  That's all I know, but hope it helps you out.

Les,
The Exel is a Randy Smith SV-22.

Alan Buck's, weighs less than 60 oz I think. 58 oz if I remember correctly.
