Air Adventure 2014
« on: August 01, 2014, 06:23:54 AM »
Visitors. I'll take more pics today. IPhone 4s kinda hard to frame anything. Especially in the sun. The QED 2 is an amazing reproduction by the late Jim Moss and friends. 1400 hp plus. The pilot said not enough rudder. An understatement. The aluminum fuselage Vega one of 10 made. Only one flying. Lockheed 12a. Is that an Electra? Eight of them at the fly-in. I think. Monocoup. I love those 30s hot rods. Wacos are all fab. Especially the cabin biplanes with distorted triangle windows.

   Hey Dennis;
      The control line circles run from 9:30 to 3:30. My legs won't take much more roaming around, so I plan to take care of a few things and be there by 9:30 or 10AM, and will be there the rest of the day. We hope to fun fly at  the site after the airshow, and then load up for the trip home before it gets dark. Come on by and see the Tuff Baby in action! We are still using the same five airplanes we took there in 2010!
    Type at you later,

Ahh. Yep. I got to the museum a little after that time. Next year. I took a tour of the vintage birds. Wanted to make sure I didn't miss any. Then I went to visit with Wittman's Bonzo and Buster, Keith Rider's Firecracker, the Menasco Bucko, Monocoups, any of those 30s racers and the engines. Too bad so many of the best planes are hung from the ceiling. Shame we can't get into look but don't touch distance. This Spartan Executive in on display in the hangers across from the museum. First all metal corporate and personal private plane. Nearly double the cost of a Howard or a Staggerwing. Only 34 made. There was another Spartan that flew in. Parked on the grass in the vintage corral. Someone owns and flies that one.

Peabody. I'd love to look at those old bikes. Might have ridden one. New.

Two and one half days too short. Especially considering time needed to recoup after miles and miles of walking. Trimotor ride always looked over the horizon. I set out intending to take that ride. Cross country in one of those at a few thousand feet. That would be amazing.
