Title: Age of top Stunt fliers.
Post by: Randy Cuberly on July 28, 2012, 06:08:01 PM
Just for grins, I would like to bring up a question related to the Open/Expert class discussion.
Was there anyone in the flyoff for the Walker cup this year that is over 70 years old?
Further was there anyone in the top 10 that that is over 70 years old?
I strongly suspect that this may be a factor in wanting an Expert Class at the Nationals for some of us in the over-the hill gang.
Age takes it's toll.  Here in Tucson there are several over 70 fliers that still fly very well, but week to week consistency is off due to ailing from time to time.  Those periods of "Off" are much closer together and a lot more often for us "Old Guys".

I only brought this up because the thread on the Expert Class discussion seemed to mention everything else but did not touch on this...I guess nobody wants to admit to being OLD!

I don't believe he is.  I know Billy is, though.

They don't have to admit it...it is obvious  LOL  the average age of PAMPA members is over 70 years old,  Brett is just a youngster by comparasion,  not even going to talk about what babies  Moons, Fitton  ,and  Derek and others   are compared   ;D ;D ;D

What we need is about 200 more of the babies  LL~

I don't normally use the term babies, I prefer "rotten punk kids with their long hair and their rock music who won't stay off my lawn, consarn it!"

I think Bob is only in his middle 60's.
I also don't think Billy is over 70.
Bob Whitely is Just...
Keith Trostle is way over...
Don't know about Bill Rich but don't think he is.

None of the Top 5 pilots are i their '70s.

Billy Werwage is about 72 now, IIRC.  (Bob Lampione said he is about the same age as Billy)  Bob Hunt is about my age so he is around 62, I think.  Bill Rich might still be in his '50s, but probably 60 by now.  I believe Kaz and Paul are close to the same age, not yet 60 IIRC.
Of course, Doug Moon is ridiculously young in comparison.

As my Dad said:  "When I act my age I feel like I am 16, when I act like I am 16 I feel my age!"  Words to live by!  He lived to 96, BTW  H^^

But somehow, flying stunt (Just 70 this year), I feel like I am 16 and DON'T feel my age. ( unless I stand up too fast...ooog)

Hey Bill (Bear),

Please don't make me any older. I turned 70 on March 7th and still feel as if I were in my 50's.
The body doesn't always respond that way but in my head I feel great. Like I always say, "It's great to get up in the morning".

Cheers,

Bob "Champione" Lampione

Easy now! I was no crankier than usual after spending 36 hours at work.

Actually despite my age, I can proudly state that I have not grown psychologically in at least 40 years. i am just as immature as ever!

I'm 49 but live like I'm 20 something...  I'm stronger and leaner than I was at 29. But I work harder at that now than I did then. "I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was"....

HHmmmmYeah I remember some 36+ hour days at work...Problem is I seldom remembered what it was I did for about the last 10 or so of those days.  Always made me a little nervous on top of cranky...oh well they'll probably never have to use those... :-[ ::)

Retirement is great...or would be if there was a little more money attached to it... y1
