:) I just want to say that I really like the Stunt News from a download and not having a paper copy. You see I have a problem with throwing things away. I had to quit National Geographic because I would not throw away the copies. This caused me to be hauling them around the country everytime I moved. I finally got rid of them by giving them to a library. I still have all the old Stunt news copies here in my office. Never do I look at them! I just read them over a few times and put them on the shelf. So when it became possible to just get them and keep them in the computer that was the ticket for me.  ;)

Again I had a chance to "peek-a-boo"  at a friends online copy of his latest Stunt News Article about Les's amazingly beautiful Stilletto article...
BEFORE HIS COMCAST'ICAL' CONNECTION FAILED...dumping everyone here in the south sound area of Puget Sound...into cyber space.

LES HAS A AN AMAZING GIFT in writing with such clarity about not only that awesome CLPA machine of his...but also his illustrations and stories that surround what it is like during their traveling through countries that during those days were  virtually unavailabe to the most of the western free world. The places...the faces...the stories in this article are truly a KEEP SAKE!
A huge thanks to Les and everyone envolved who helped make this issue of Stunt New a reality.

(one klipped' photo saved before Comcast shot us off into cyberspace.)

Worst of all....the HD Comcast TV connections were also lost...so I had to keep hearing  over and over again from my beloved Carol...that she couldn't see her AMERICAN IDOL PROGRAM last night which was on at the same time that I was reading this latest  #5 Les McD's Stunt New article. LL~ H^^ S?P VD~

I had the good fortune to meet Les at the '72 Nats and again at the '73 Nats.  I also had an enjoyable time at the '74 (or so) King Orange, where I had the opportunity to talk to him at length.  Les is a real down to earth guy who didn't let his success on the circle go to his head.

I have followed the Stiletto Chronicles closely and have thoroughly enjoyed the journey of his stunt career.  He was and still is my hero and I never tired of reading or hearing about him.

His Chronicles series is almost over, with one more installment to go.  I am anxious to continue reading, but very disappointed and saddened because I know it will signify the end of a legend's career.  Admittedly, Les has been retired for quite a few years but to follow the written road up to that point makes it really hit home.  I think back on how deeply involved I was in the hobby about the same time as Les but I had to leave the circle due to other commitments.  Les was able to continue on with well earned success for many years and leave when he felt the time was right.  Still, I wish it wasn't so.  I know how hard it was for me to hang up the handle, even though I was
only a moderately successful regional competitor.  It can't imagine how he must have felt his last flight.

I do have a Stiletto 660 on order as my way of honoring Les McDonald's fabulous career.

I also love reading of Les' experiences.  When I was being taught about F2C, Dunkin & Wright had lots of stories about the World Champs and the great people involved in them.  I can brag about my one Worlds Champs in which I got close to each team in F2C in 2004 in Muncie.  I had to make sure they got their vests on right.  Got to meet Les and a lot of people that year, especially at the banquet.  But, Les is letting us know how much dedication it takes to be a Champion and I thank him for that.
