I went flying today.
I hadn't expected to go flying today -- the ground's a bit too wet, and the weather too unstable for folks to make it out to my RC club's flying field. But dangit, the Spring Tuneup is just a few weeks away, and I really wanted to show up there still capable of flying a plane!
So, about 1:00 my wife says "do you want to go flying?".
"Well, yes," sez I, "but no one will be there".
"I'll go -- I can sit in the car and knit."
"I need someone to launch"
"I'll launch, if you show me how".
Now I know why I married this woman. She even watched my maneuvers and commented (accurately!) on how well I did them -- she mentioned that CLPA is just like Dressage, except with Dressage you don't have to worry about crashing. So she had experiencing knowing when a line was supposed to be straight, and a maneuver round, etc.
So I got some pretty crappy flights in -- it's got a new engine installation that I needed to dial in, and I gave her some bad advice about giving me advice on tip weight, so I got to discover the joys of really excessive tip weight. But on the last flight I at least had the motor going well, and managed to squeeze out a recognizable pattern.
But better crappy flights now than three weeks from now!
