Failure to launch
« on: February 15, 2010, 03:19:15 PM »
When I built my Trophy Trainer I spaced the landing gear out wide and low for that ground hugging look that I like. But guess what happens when the grounds keepers miss a mow day.

I made almost 1/2 a lap but never got off the ground. Good thing I took my old Magician out too.

GROOVY!!! ;D ;D ;D

I have taken a number of pictures of things with a lot of depth and 2D pictures really fail to show the reality. Somehow you did so and all I can say is that the trough is easy to see.
A few more laps and you would have been fine for the rest of the day!

The fun part is cleaning all the grass and castor off the plane. Windex works pretty good for the grass, and not to bad on the castor. I have lots of experience. y1 LL~

And off the engine, the muffler, the prop . . .  >:(.  I bought some Nitro Force spray cleaner (made by Dynamite) and it really cleaned the engine well. It's made for RC cars that use fuel engines, works good on fuel airplanes too.

How is it on the paint?

I used spry carb cleaner on the old 1/8 scale road race cars, cleans everything including paint off... HB~> HB~> HB~>

Were you plowing a crop circle? LL~ LL~ LL~

I've used the cleaner for almost a year, and have seen no adverse effect on dope or urathane finishes. Of course I don't use it all the time; just to clean a really dirty engine. I usually take the engine off, but have used it while the engine was still on the plane as I just did this time. Also great for cleaning fuel tanks.
