Aero Tiger .36?

I received in the mail the November 06 issue of Flying Models today.  There is a construction article for the Gypsy 35 stunter.  The plans recommend an Aero Tiger .36.  What is it?  Who makes it?  The article and model look interesting enough to maybe try my hand at scratch building again.

To back up Ty's remarks.  The Aero Tiger 36 is a custom made engine that Randy Smith of Aero Products (Engine Forum Moderator) assembles.  It is based on a Thunder Tiger Pro 36 case.  A new, retimed, AAC piston/sleeve is made for Randy by Henry Nelson which gives this engine the best stunt run you can imagine.  Randy fits each engine and they are awesome.  It is a truly "stunt" dedicated engine, and one of the very best ever made.  VSC and Classic at the NATS have been dominated by this engine since it's introduction.  Very strong and exceptionally user friendly.

heard of these engines going for 1500 flights before needing a rebuild.

I just flew Lee Strickland's Pathfinder today for the second time with his Aero Tiger 36 on it. This was down in L. A.  Generally speaking, a lot of the cheaper motors are usually recommended to beginners because of the low price.

I disagree here. Having flown this motor a number of times, I think this engine is actually better suited to beginners, (and pros alike) because, beginners ususually don't have the expertise to make the sometimes balky cheaper motors run right.  The Aero Tiger 36 is a strictly flip and fly affair which is just what the beginner needs!

And Hyflo has a tube muffler that works excellent with that engine. Scott
