I saw these a while back and thought they may be of intrest to some people on here

They are a product and manufactured by "Bruce Dechastel" from F3d Fame and have been used for years now on many pylon racers around the world.

Simply drill top plate and mount using 4mm bolts to a ply plate in the model, you can also trim the spat for more clearence on the wheel for grass use.

Several year ago I did some carbon fiber wing mounted gear. One of the problems was that they were very rigid. Very rigid. So there was pretty much zero flex when landing. This usually caused a bounce unless it was an absolutely perfect landing. Ultimately, I had a hard landing with the plane and instead of the gear flexing, it drove the gear through the wing. I may try it again and redesign the layout to allow some flex, but I was disheartened by this outcome.

Now for something like racing, this would probably be fine as the wing structure would likely be designed to hold up to hard, fast landings.

I use Carbon landing gear from Kaz Minato which are lined with Kevlar to allow them to flex.

Spats, Legs + wheels + primer = 65 Grams.
