Anyone using FX's?
« on: November 26, 2017, 06:14:04 PM »
I got handed a OS FX 46. Its weighs 13oz with carb. Figure the carb 2oz.
Has anyone ran one setup on a CL plane?

The FX46 looks very much like the OS AX46II but of course, is discontinued.   The FX is probably the forerunner of the AX series engines.  Parts are discontinued but appear to be available in limited quantities on E-Bay.

The 46AXII can be used as a Control Line Stunt engine by just providing it with a venturi and needle valve assembly.  Mine uses a Venturi provided by Jim Lee with a .270 diameter opening and a Randy Aero needle assembly.  I would guess that the FX is similar and would work approximately the same, but it's only a guess.  Should be worth trying it!

I flew my 72 ounce Magnum with an FX .46 with a C/L venturi, 6 oz. metal uniflow tank, 10-22 fuel, and a 12 x 4 prop. It hauled the big plane around effortlessly running in steady 2-stroke mode.

the 46FX for RC  has reputation with Ni plating on cylinder liner. Could be RC fuel is lower in oil? I run mine on Powermaster 10-22 with hope this will improve life of P/L. When P/L is worn out I have ABC setup i bought from Jusr Engines with real chrome on cylinder liner.
