I would imagine that the advertisers pay a fee to have their logo or business displayed, and that helps Sparky cover the bills of the website. It's a heck of a lot less intrusive that it almost anywhere else on the internet.
   How is that offensive?

Perhaps the OPs was referencing the one of the Indian head???
Me I like it. In fact before it disappeared I copied and saved the picture onto my computer. At the time I felt some one might object to it (NOT SAYING THE OP DID, he did not). I hate political correctness. That is as far as I can post and not get booted by a mod.

Maybe someday I will use the Indian head logo on a plane PC BE DAMNED. PC offends me!!!!!!

I am part Native American, if that's the question....I wasn't offended, just a little curious as to the facial appearance. Didn't really look like my ancestors. They all had big noses, and shorter teeth. ;D  Probably from eating stone ground corn. H^^

The Indian head is the logo for Lafayette Esquadrille Control Line Club that I am in. Its a link to the clubs site. Didn't a nickel have a Indian on it? Anyone who's offended by a nickel please send those here by the truck loads.

I have Adblock, so no ads show.  Out of curiosity, I turned Adblock off and refreshed the screen.  By continually refreshing, I was able to index through all the ads that came up one at a time.

When the Indian head came up...wow! It is beautiful!  Certainly not offensive.  None of the ads were offensive.  Nothing offensive to see here.

Adblock is restored.

My Uncle Frank was killed in France in 1918 as part of the second division.  The emblem of their division was an Indian Head.  Am I offended by the use of an Indian head? Come on, get real!  All the fuss over this "red herring"  problem is in my mind simply STUPID!  Attached are two of the 2nd Div. logos.  I make decals and put them on most of my planes.  PS, my Mother was 1/4 Indian, and she loved not only the picture, but the name "Redskin" as well, convinced it was an honor!

Not offensive at all.  But then I'm not 'Native American' or whatever the current P.C. phrase is.

Add me to the list of those who're sick & tired of all the P.C. baloney we deal with today.

The Indian Chief club logo was patterned after the logo of the American Volunteer Squadron in WW-1, the Lafayette Escadrille. There is much symbolism in the logo and the club name, but I probably won't remember it all. The name of the club is spelled Lafayette Esquadrille for a specific reason that escapes me. The number of feathers in the head dress has a meaning also. The iron cross in the yellow circle of the head dress was changed from a swastika that was used on the original emblem. We all know the use of the swastika by the Nazi Party, but it also has some meaning to Native American Indians and that is why it was on the original. It was changed so as to not offend anyone. The swastika has meaning in other areas also. I have some very old Flying Aces magazines that have it in the header at the top of the cover and it meant something to the printing industry at that time, which was the late 1920's. Bob Arata has all the details in his head, as I think he was involved in the development of the club logo many years ago with Gus Vogle. There is much more to the story and I'll have to check in with Bob to fill in the gaps.

It is amazing that a few nimcomputes can tell the majority of how to do things or how to think.   I have indian heritage way back on my Grandfathers side of the family.  I like the indian head.   I can still remember the indian head root beer stand that used to be on State Avenue in KCK.

Yep, all that...and what about those latter-day, has-been Hippie morons who campaigned against the name 'Redskins' for a football team?

Just waaay too many touchy-feely, tree-hugging Liberals among us today.

I know: gotta' stop holding it in....tell it like I really feel.

Here's one for ya... They decided to change the name of Mid-Continent Airport, (in Wichita, Kansas) to Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport. Come on, the very center of the country is the middle of the continent, so you know where you are! It's called Fly-Over country, mostly. How many people will know they are in Wichita, or Kansas for that matter, just because the airport is named for a U.S. President from Abilene, Kansas? Who else knows that? Now, they'll have to re-do all the letterhead, signage, Jepp charts, and all that stuff. Crazy.
I will build it. It's gonna be really difficult to find me with an ARF. I know every bit of my airplane!

It is still a free country and if one does not like something, all one has to do is move on, go elsewhere, never return, go into a dark, dank cave and scream at the walls, cry like a baby. No one cares that one may be offended. I am offended by those that pretend to be offended by an historical icon. It is based,  in part, by the Lafayette Escandrille of WW One fame.  Of course there are those with nothing else to do buy cry about the Cleveland Indianns, The Washington Redskins, Atlanta Braves, ad infinitm. Get a life. y1 #^ D>K
