Adjust-O-Jig Indexing Tool
« on: October 01, 2017, 05:26:06 PM »
     I have been piecing together and fixing up an old Adjust-O-Jig and I think I have it complete with the exception of the tool, template, device that you use to determine where to put the holes in the ribs for the rods. I have never seen one of these jigs in person, so have no idea what I am looking for and there is no real diagram in the instructions I down loaded off the net. I placed an add in the classifieds looking for one but I was wondering if anybody has one that they could look at the device that I am referring to and see if it is something that could be copied and/or made.
   These jigs were and still are kind of popular and I wanted to try one out without breaking the bank. They can be used for fuselages also. But I have never seen one in person so I would appreciate any help I can get from out there in stunt hanger land!! H^^

Hi Dan
Here are the printed instructions and they do indeed show a drawing of the rib indexer tool.
I have always stack cut my ribs spaced for the jig.
Going to take more than one post.

    Hi Mike;
    I down loaded those instructions already, and in reading them have an idea of what it is, but the drawing in the instructions doesn't give me what I think I need to try and make something similar. It looks like you set up a rib in the indexing tool, lay the hole template over that, align the holes with the rib center line, then mark or punch the holes. There has to be lines or reference marks on both to let you do that accurately, especially on a double taper wing. If you think you could duplicate what you have, I would be interested in buying one.
   Thanks for the input and photos,

   I just did another search on eBay and there is one listed that I did not turn up before, and has a decent picture of the whole indexing tool  assembly. The fixture looks like it's made from thin particle board and the template is made from printed, thick, clear plastic. All I really need is a xerox copy of the template, and a simple sketch of the fixture, and I can make my own if one doesn't turn up. These usually go in the 150 dollar range but if I can put together the rib indexing tool, I'll have about a third of that wrapped up in mine, and saved it from possible deposit in the land fill!
  Thanks a lot,

   Hi Mike;!!
    Hey, thanks a lot for providing these. I don't frequent R/C Groups  but did find the instructions there as a result of a google search, but didn't see anything about making the index tool, or maybe I just didn't read enough. These should get me what I need and just down loaded them and will try to find the thread tomorrow when I get home from work. Off to bed right now.
    Thanks a LOT!

Dan, here's a picture of the rib template. The base is 1/4" MDF painted red. The slider is plastic that just clips over the base The clear piece is just ordinary heavy plastic. The only critical measurement is the 2" hole spacing in the plastic that matches the long support rods of the jig itself. Hope this helps.
