Title: Adhesive removal from wing
Post by: James Mills on May 19, 2007, 09:23:40 PM
I tried using shelf paper for the lettering and numbers for my new plane.  The lettering came out decent but I'm having trouble getting the adhesive from the paper off the wing.  I've tried glass cleaner and alcohol and am not having much luck.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

James

Should have mentioned that it was a dope finish.

James

Thanks for the tip, the goo gone worked.

What is the wing finished with? If it's $kote or similar acetone should do it, but if it's painted I don't know.

They make specific cleaner for adhesive removal. You might check with a large home center or, office supply store. They also make a product that is sold at auto paint stores for removing stripes and that type of thing. With any of them check in an inconspicuous spot. Here is a link to some home remedies.
