A word of advice for those attending the Fly-In
« on: May 09, 2007, 01:11:37 PM »
In the recent past, Carmichaels has experienced a number of accidents and a few injuries caused by speeding, often by people with those little and loud Japanese hot rods. Local residents have lodged complaints.

To combat this, the police are citing speeders more than they have in the past.

Suggestion - when you see the posted speed limits, heed them.

It could avoid some costly problems.

In the trips I have made to Brodak's, I have yet to even SEE a local constable! **)

As to how many flyers are there, etc., expect a "Wood Stock" like experience!  It is a C/L "Love IN"! ;D

Naked and driving a Yugo, eh?  LL~ LL~ LL~
Come to think of it, we've moved the Fly-In to Guatemala - just show up there and ask directions!!!!

But seriously, Bob - as Bill implied, the "happening" will most likely overwhelm you.
There is no specific gathering place but you will find many groups, usually gathered in those portable shelter pavilions.

There is no flea market per se but many people set up and sell out of their vans. Anyone may do this.

Dr Pete brings his hobby shop.

If you need more, you can walk to the main Brodak hobby shop. But, don't walk - after you see all the neat stuff there, you'll buy lots of it and need your car after all!!

Look for my setup - I will be right outside the workshop with a bunch of weird planes.
You'll see a little yellow Cherokee, a big yellow Staggerwing, a Red Hot Angel and a yellow Stinger.

Food?  Yep. We don't want anyone to starve so there is a food trailer setup.
Breakfast (coffee, donuts, etc), then all day with pizza, hot dogs, chips, soda.

Souvenirs? There will be all sorts of Brodak memorabilia for sale - hats, shirts, you name it.
Also raffles.

Remember, the Fly-In is the biggest event of its kind on the planet.
When you get there, you'll see why.

Stay over until Friday.

Bob Z.

Here is the reason for extra patrol car supervision of the Waynesburg, PA area.  WalMart will have finish a WalMart Superstore just across the street (Hwy 21) from Greene County Airport in September 2007.  Presently the worksite is under construction and close supervision of the Greene County authorities and WalMart and all of the local motels are taken up by the construction workers.  Speeders beware.
