CHEERS TO THE BEGINNING OF ANOTHER SEASON

In a few months the clock will strike 60. 

I’ve butchered a @#$% load of balsa for 54 of those years. I’ve met a whole lot of people all over the world.  Had a lot of laughs, told a lot of lies and sucked up a few beers.  A couple of months ago I had lunch with a guy I hadn’t seen since he was a teen, he’s a capn’ for Delta now complete with wife and kids.  A few minutes ago I sent off an email to someone I hadn’t seen or heard from in 25 years.  In January I talked to the guy who taught me to fly RC 38 years ago.  Just saw a picture of Denny Adamisin, he’s a grandpa!  Last time I saw him he was a skinny teen.  Every time I lurk around here Shultzie on the scene. 

So what am I trying to say? 
NO I’m not dieing, NO I’m not quittin’ and NO I’m not goin’ away!

Just wanted to say HEY to everyone out there who’s shared some laughs and told me some lies!  I know you’re lurkin’! 
Here’s an interesting picture from back in the day. circa '71.  How do you put JCT and Stunt together?  You need a Diplomat!  Can you say “Oxymoron”?

Oh,great pictures of Phil, Every year he comes to the Northwest Regional and he usually comes over to me and says are you still alive. I don't understand his sence of humer but I really like the way he builds and flies. He has great personality and hangs out with some really nice people.

Phil,  another milestone in your life.  Can't say I've met a nicer gentleman even tho I've never met you in the combat circle.  I can still remember the 74 NATS in Lake Charles dorm being aroused out of a sound sleep with someone yelling over the speaker,  "Phil Granderson your luggage is here".  Just had to meet the man and I'm glad I did.  Builds beautiful airplanes and flies the keck out of them.   Hope you have many more,  DOC Holliday

I seem to recall being that skinny teen - I think it that was about two weeks ago???    Now there is 100% more of me than there was back then-  Like the song says "don't blink!"

     Lurking??  How about lieing in ambush !!  Phil, have you ever gotten all the "overspray"  rubbed off??  I hear that the new HVLP spray guns do not have such an overspray problem.  (G)

  Truly, I have not met many people as nice as Phil in any circle, especially the combat circle.
   HMMM  I just wonder why he is regressing into the "stunt??" realm.  Probably just getting OLD like the rest of us.

Greetings to another Stunt Man I continue to admire. Phil, I love your designs
and your paint schemes. I don't belief we have personally met, but I've watched
your design work closely, and remember some emails, so feel like I know you well.

My advice (I just turned 61 last month), is the same I give about going to the hospital:
go limp. That is, relax and allow life and friends to flow all around you. I know you still
feel like you did when you were 15 (so do I), and that's really all that counts.

Also: 60 is the new 50! Someone told me that last year! ;->

I remember how sad and disappointed Jose Modesto and I were, each time we got the news that you placed second or third at the Nats in combat. I remember the day Jose came over to my house in NYC and told me, “ I got a surprise for you, Phil Granderson just won the Nats”. We were so happy, we jumped up and down.

Prior to you, Jose and I did not follow combat-we were STRICTLY STUNT!!! And more specifically, we wanted to know how “our guys” did at the Nats: Gene Schaeffer, Bill Simons, Bob Lampione, Bob Hunt etc. So sorry for putting so much pressure on you, (without you knowing it LOL).

Your competitive endeavor at the Nats showed Jose and I, that just because you don’t get the results you want right away, doesn’t mean you throw in the towel. While we take these lessons for granted when were older, we forget that these lessons have to be learned in some manner when you are very young.  And as we all know, we learn them by example.

When I was 61 I rode bicycle From Portland to St. paul Minnesota. Took 3 weeks an one breakdown to get there. I thought I was a real superjock after that little ride. I was in pretty good shape then.
