Title: A New Source for the Fun Control-Liner
Post by: Hoss Cain on May 21, 2012, 02:24:02 PM
This is just an idea that passed through my head. (Nothing up there to stop it passing through.)

Just today I received my bi-monthly issue of Flying Aces. This magazine is dedicated to Free Flight Rubber Power. Don't laugh as this is really true aeromodeling. I am posting this here because there are numerous plans in each issue. These are absolutely art work, and any aeromodeler could easily adjust these plans and wood sizes for CL flying, especially in the 1/2A Scale stuff that seems to be catching on.

Now as an example of how a rubber kit or plans can be used for other items, look at this picture. The only one I have but that 50" w/s Hurricane (RC) flew like an angel for over 3 years and even in Scale Warbird Racing. (That is a .28 up front) It's final flight was all pilot error, not a fault of the machine. I have a Stuka but the silk erroded several years ago and it is in the line-up for repairs maybe 100 years from now.

I have probably well over 150 plans from 6" w/s to 50" w/s. Any could be a neat rubber machine or RC, especially indoor electric, or converted to CL or RC, there are too many options to choose.  This latest one has a beautiful 27.5" wingspan Cessna 310, ideal for the 1/2 A CL events. Includes 4 view Scale Document picture.

For the sport/fun modeler, it would be hard to beat the source that Flying Aces provides
for a mere $20 per year.

Dan lutz built a beautiful 1/2 a scale  in the 50s he won many times with it. I watched him build itover about a year. Talking about patience. the same dan lutz rip  with the engine museum. I gave him the p-30 and the supercharged thinderbird also a wierd 1/2 a I forgot what it was end a few others I don't recall. If it was an old engine, dan knew what it was. jim

Thank You, Mr. Chris.  The other two met their fate along the way of Scale Warbird Racing each in a different day, but same way, that Pylon Turn on the right, 2-pylon course. IT happens!.   %^@
