In the Royal and Ancient rules of golf, Rule 10 states:
If a Ball be stopp’d by any Person, Horse, Dog or anything else, The Ball so stop’d must be play’d where it lyes.
In other words, “Too bad, Laddie!”. However, at the KOI I did have a flight stopped by an “external agent” which destroyed the airplane. I got a better result, thanks to the generosity of another competitor.
As I was picking up the pieces, a gentleman approached and said, “I have one of those I will never put together. If you’ll pay the postage I’ll send it to you at no charge.”
I won’t mention the gentleman’s name to avoid embarrassing him. However, I will say, there are some exceptional people in this hobby. I think it shows once again how unique the world of modeling is, from top to bottom. “Nice people” is an understatement.

Well Larry, all i can say is "takes one to know one" ! y1 You must tell me of this dreaded external agent sometime so i can beware.

I think there are others that would be interested in the story of external agent. But, the generosity of modelers is what I think has kept me in this hobby/madness/sport. I have tried to be helpful when needed.

. . . the generosity of modelers is what I think has kept me in this hobby/madness/sport. I have tried to be helpful when needed.
If you notice in the forums, nearly all of the "answers" are because someone took the time and trouble to help a fellow modeler. We tend to take that sort of help for granted.
As you say, that is one of the charms of this "hobby/madness/sport". It doesn't hurt to remind ourselves of that now and then.

In the world we live in today, it is a blessing to know there are some places where we can be surrounded by folks who are like it used to be.
