Title: A great day of flying in Cocoa, FL
Post by: Bill Hodges on April 19, 2009, 03:56:46 PM
Just want to say thanks to Roger Vizioli and the I.R.K.S. for hosting a great day of flying at their very nice site in Cocoa.  There was a good turnout and I believe all had a good time.  I know I did.  The wind did blow pretty good, but there was still a lot of flying going on.  Some good food too.

Once again, thanks to Roger and the whole gang in Cocoa.

Here are the X-47 Flyers that attended.

Tip my hat to Roger, Dick and the IRKS gang!  H^^  Outstanding day with lots of flying, good food, and great friends! There were 4 circles in use for several hours .... great to hear all the noise coming from different directions!

I'd like to specifically THANK the X-47 gentleman for delaying his departure to help me jump-start my Expedition.  Dumb-ass me left my rear gate open all day .... not noticing that my interior lights didnt automatically switch off.  "Thank You Very Much" for helping me out! I'm terrible with names .... sorry!

I've got a few pics, and will post em soon ....

Thanks again to IRKS for putting this on!

I will add my thanks to Roger and the IRKS gang for a fun day. It was nice to see everyone turn up and fly even if the wind was not Ideal. There were 3 big circles and one smaller circle for 1/2A flying. It is nice to talk and exchange ideas with fellow enthusiast. I look forward to the next event.

Keep rubbing it in.  Rain most of the weekend here.  Just wait til I win the big one.  Then I will be traveling all over just to irritate everyone with my flying.  Glad to here you guys had a good turn out.  Having fun,  DOC Holliday

I somehow missed this event being posted. I have a sister who lives in Cocoa and I would have loved for her to come out and snap some pics of this event since I am unable to make it so far away.
She does not care so much for the modeling but she knows I do and the next time around I hope to tell her of this so that she can visit for me for a little while!

I have asked her if she knows of any fliers in the area and she  said she didn't. May I ask where this took place?

I missed it- but I have to know- Did the Mig fly?  I had every intention of finishing the Sabre ( it is actually done but for panel lines/hardware install), and bring it out for some BS bravado about Death Duel over the Indian River and such non-sense.

I'm glad you guys got to fly- I flew too, from Orlando to New Mexico- to Phoenix - to Portland. The reward was in Portland where the weather was nice and a bunch of guys flew pretty planes all day long!

I will have the Sabre over there for the Vetrans Day fly-in, and might even get Tom to bring his Sterling P-51 if he can get off work.

Bill

We missed you there, but understand about work getting in the way of fun. The MIG did not fly, I did not have enough flights on the model to be comfurtable in the wind. The next time I will have more time on the model and we can fly two up. Roger cut us a dedicated circle for the 1/2A stuff and the combat guys flew all day with no issues. I did take the opportunity to get a few 1/2A flights with my son on his trainer in the morning before the breeze picked up and flew my other stuff the rest of the day.

Roger,

I will be there in November. Perhaps I can get Toby to come up to. Your facility looks great and you have a mountain.

Very sorry I could not make it.

Phil,
I am glad we finally got to reciprocate and have you as our guests.
You can count on us being at your Central Florida Fly In Thanksgiving weekend.
Our next big event will be the 2 day Veterans Day Fly In on Nov 6 and 7. As we did last year, all proceeds will be donated to the Disabled American Veterans.

There were many beautiful models at the Fly In.
Control Line flying is alive and well in Florida.
The four circles were active most of the day and all attendees worked well together to ensure all got to fly when they wanted to.

Our thanks to the Umland family who visited and showed us their new, under construction, Galloping Comedian accompanied by the Jess-ter.
They both look better in real life than in the pics we have all seen. pics attached.

Sincere thanks to all who attended.
We will make it an annual event!
