Went Cyber-Cerfing' a few moments ago...
Check out these beautiful CLPA WAR HORSES from the past. (photos gleaned from all over the planet.
Starting with Bart Klapinskis beautiful "see through finish"
Check out the control movement on the Spectrum. WOW!

Photo with two Klapinski designed Tempest(s): Both are from Southern CA. Late ‘60s early ‘70s

Left: Looks to be the work of Preston Wilson, San Diego area. He built 2 of them, one black and one white. Flawless finish on both. Even the inside of the cowl was rubbed out!

Right: with big lettering belongs to Mike Jackson, Long Beach, CA. He was junior national champ somewhere between '69 and '72. Maybe Keith Trostle has records.

If these guys are still around, especially Mike Jackson I would love to get in touch with them.

Mike Jackson was Senior champ in 1971. A TERRIFIC flyer and nice guy. I think the last I saw of him was the 72 NATs...

I recall seeing pics of Lauri's models in late 90s/early 2000s. I was stunned even though the pics were pretty low quality. Bit like the attached one from 1999. I recall there was a blue and white one too.

I pretty sure I have seen Barts red Pathfinder plane fly a few times. It has a very strong corner. Bart Kaplinsky has the unique abilty to hold virtually any stunt ship extremely steady, whether his or someone elses. Having watched,(and judged) Bart's flying a number of times, I can tell you that, I can see no reason why with current equipment, Bart can't be in the top five Walker Cup finals, at current and future Nat's.

He has a VERRRY steady hand!!

Mike and I were friends and flying partners back in 70-73. We lived a short distance apart and would fly over at Hartwell Park in Long Beach. I think he was also Jr. champion in 70 and 71 but I'm not sure. We were both in high school at the time. After high school, we lost touch.

Dadgum that's a purty plane, and excellent photo quality. You don't mind if I borrow the pic for a desktop background? Should be a perfect contrast with the colors and all those tiny pebbles in the asphalt!
