Godwin's Law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies) is a saying made by Mike Godwin in 1990. The law states: "As a discussion on the Internet grows longer, the likelihood of a comparison of a person's being compared to Hitler or another Nazi reference, increases.".

The premise being that no matter how bad something might be, it can't compare to Hitler. Unfortunately, that's far from true - in some ways, Hitler was a piker when it came to disregard for human life. The Nazis aren't even the worst example of eugenics in action!

Planned Parenthood and other modern eugenics programs probably lead the way as far as Hitler and his "philosophy" was concerned, he only killed ~10 million people for that reason alone and PP is way out ahead of that.
But that pales in comparison to socialist/Communist regimes, who aren't actually interested in eugenics, just arbitrarily reducing the population for reasons of political theory and individuals consolidating their political power, or wanting to have a plan and stick to it, and just not giving a damn about how many people die as a result.
It's hard to put numbers on it, so you can't really be sure who is worse (Lenin/Stalin/USSR or The Chinese communists), both are scum of humanity, but figure maybe 100 million of so each, generally starved to death for political reasons. These numbers swamp the usual historical culprits - Crusades, Romans, Mongols, Islamic expansion, etc; if nothing else, it's pretty hard to kill 100 million people one at a time with a sword. What's going on in various places in Africa right now is sickening, to the shame of the modern world, but again, the body count is limited by the means (guns, one person at a time)

Margaret Sanger wrote (in 1932):
Article 1. The purpose of the American Baby Code shall be to provide for a better distribution of babies… and to protect society against the propagation and increase of the unfit.
Article 4. No woman shall have the legal right to bear a child, and no man shall have the right to become a father, without a permit…
Article 6. No permit for parenthood shall be valid for more than one birth.
So much for the "right to choose". Fortunately, a wide array of people including Christian Conservative saw this attempt for exactly what it was, and defeated the attempt to add this classic eugenics clause to US code.

In case it was unclear what constitutes "unfit":
1932:
Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race.
and
Dec. 10. 1939,
We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.
Note that she also went to war against the Catholic church for defending people's "right to choose" on both religious and secular moral grounds, eventually suggesting that the Catholic people will almost certainly be found to be "genetically deficient" and therefore subject to breeding restrictions.
It is utterly unambigious that the entire point to this effort was to reduce breeding of the unfit/unworthy, particularly along lines of race. And it is also utterly unambiguous that this has had their "desired effect" as a result of wildly disproportionate abortion of black babies as opposed to other races. Operating for decades (instead of about 10 years like the Nazis). I fail to see a consequential distinction.
I don't think most liberals actually believe in this effort, they are not indecent people as a rule, and I am not pointing the finger at individuals. But, it's also hallmark of leftist thought to avoid facts that are inconvenient or they don't want to face (like the demonstrable fact that NO left-wing policies have EVER been seen to be beneficial or to "work" for the good of humanity - far from that, all have been unmitigated disasters). Only if you ignore the inconvenient results can you continue to "beleive", or come up with excuses (like, "socialism/communism will work, they just didn't do it right...")
Note this starts the countdown to someone running off to "daddy" to get the thread locked...

I think this time anyone whining about these facts should do some research before Tattling. If you think Brett made these quotes up, copy and paste them in search and see where they came from and who said them. https://savethestorks.com/2017/06/awkward-moment-planned-parenthood-tries-cover-racist-past/

I tried to let this go, but cannot.
I voted for Trump. Thousands of people on this forum did the same thing. Are you calling me a traitor?
Are you calling thousands of other people on this forum traitors?
To me that is one of those things like flipping someone the bird.
Don't do it unless you want to fight.
But you are just a keyboard warrior. A drive by troll. If I ever run into you at a contest I'm going to see if you have a big enough sack to say it to my face.

There's a bit of Communism in many people, even in this Forum. I believe you're wrong about, thousands of people in this Forum voting for Trump, doing the same thing.
If you were me you wouldn't see it that way. Education comes with a price.
Anti-American, or Anti-Modeler, call it what you want, but it's not a good thing.
Especially when these pinko bastards are backed up by those who agree, or when they are not confronted, as Trump is actually attempting to do.
Hey! You're in TN. I'm in TN and loving it!

There are many things that make America great and it’s fundamental rights make it so;
Right to Vote for your government representatives freely and without duress.
Right of free speech (which even many western nations don’t have).
Right to protect those you love by bearing arms of whatever kind.
People have a right to be wrong, be they from the left or right. America will only remain America if it continues to embody free speech and democracy, and that includes acknowledging the views of both the left and right.
-
Don't forget, we also have the right to leave, if we don't like being American. I would encourage more to look seriously at that option, particularly those from Hollyweed, California. And 'bye, Peabody. #^ Steve

Just remember this. An armed society is a polite society.
Please tell that to the family of someone gunned down in a mass shooting. We are the most armed democracy and the only one with routine mass killings outside of an active war.
With all due respect your comment is the most ignorant thing I’ve read in a very long time.

Jim, I don't think Sparky was referring to manners by quoting that statement. It goes much deeper than that.

I hate to inform you that facts do not support your opinion.
I live in Georgia, one of the reddest states in the union, where gun ownership is not only legal, but highly encouraged. We have very low crime, and very low gun violence. Now you can travel to areas of Atlanta (a Democrat controlled city) if you like getting shot at, but the rest of the state is safe, affordable, and beautiful.
Mass shootings are tragic, but no more tragic than the mass murders by knife, or van, that take place in Europe quite frequently. I know it probably doesn't show up on your liberal radar but it happens just as often as our "mass shootings". Dont even get me started on where and by who these things take place. I would really hurt your feelings then.

Oh please hurt my feelings.
European knife and van attack’s are mostly perpetrated by radical Islamist who are the extreme exception of their faith.
We call them terrorist.
US mass shootings are increasingly perpetrated by white conservative Christians.
Let’s call them what they are, white conservative Christian terrorist that are being radicalized by far right wing websites and an openly racist president that encourages violence at his rallies.
Hope I didn’t hurt your feelings with the truth.

I looked at your past posts on this forum and found several political ones since the 2016 election.
You stated your support for the foreign invasion to the south.
I see that you lefties are also supporting free health care for illegal immigrants.
Why? Do you get free healthcare?
I don't.
Last year I had to have surgery for kidney stones in both of my kidneys.
I paid about $10,800 for my insurance policy, courtesy of Obama and $6000 for my deductible /max out of pocket, also courtesy of Obama.
My Illegal-overstayed-his-visa son in law spent 5 days in the hospital with 2 surgeries for free, courtesy of the US taxpayer.
You lefties are a special breed.

Forgive me for being cynical, but every time I see someone chanting the horrors of mass shootings - and I don't wish anyone to be a victim - I see nothing more than an advocate for gun control, followed by more control over us deplorables.
Consider the screams when a school shooting occurs - and, again, I see any loss of life in that situation as a tragedy - your concern is well and good, but where is the uproar over drunk drivers?
I believe some research will show that, on average, more Americans under the age of 18 (children, in other words) are killed by drunk drivers in a year than the total number of students (elementary, middle school, high school, college and trade schools), teachers and staff that were killed by guns in the last 20 years.
You're gonna take away our guns but keep your booze? And you're honestly concerned about innocents having their lives cut short?

Maybe if you can get Bob to lock the thread, your conscience will be salved. Alternately, you could face the facts, and do something about them.
You are not an indecent or immoral person, so maybe you shouldn't support things that have inevitably indecent or immoral side effects, even if you get some of what you want out of it in other respects. Pretending that it's not happening is delusional, and hoping it will get better or be different the next time is wearing a little thin after 100+ years.
Of course, you could just ignore the threads you are not interested in, as everyone tells me to do. It was originally about flying saucers, for God's sake. The use of the word "Hitler" in the title is a tipoff.
