A Flying field adventure. Epilogue.
« on: March 29, 2014, 04:56:13 PM »

I took this morning off to visit a CL flying field. Yes I actually did.

No, I wasn’t spying and I didn’t even have to sneak in, I was invited. Imagine.

Not active with an abundance of modelers because there was a threat of rain, but quality comes in small numbers doesn‘t it.

Great fellow modelers and the most interesting two guys I ever meet.

Two new CL friends, Dennis Toth, left in photo, and Michael Harrison.

Dennis was equipped with a great electric powered Stuka model, and I’m not sure what Michael had, but it was a cute bright yellow 1/2A with a custom clear canopy.

Dennis’s bipe is a double Sterling Yak. Impressive.

Dennis, flying his Stuka, dazzled the crowd with outstanding stunt ability.

The crowd would be Michael and myself.

Two engineers and a washed up commercial seaplane pilot.

Doesn’t get any better than that.

Couldn’t wind fly the nameless New American or the Mig-3, but I had a good show and tell.

Interesting conversation when SH modelers get together.

Guys, thanks for the really enjoyable morning.

This morning was a great time. A little windy for serious flying but I got one flight in. Considering it was suppose to rain all day not bad. We had a great time yakking about models, flying, painting, graph art, power systems. The two ships that Charles brought out were really interesting with excellent workmanship. The cockpit details in the IC ship are very impressive. All in all we had a great day at the field.

Best,       DennisT

Ah, Spring. Hopefully those days will become more frequent. Nice looking field. Our grass isn't quite so green yet, but it's starting to wake up. Thanks for the report.

Is this the park with all the soccer fields?   If so I was there a few years ago, about 6 or 7, when visiting daughter and newest granddaughter.   I remember Chuck Fulthem, Roy Tranthan who is missed and Andy Arcierno.  They would fly as soon as it was light enough to see and quit when time to go to work.

John,
Yes, that's the place. We generally fly there on Saturday mornings as long as the fields are open, sometime need to use the baseball field. This is a great place to fly, the soccer fields have the best grass, restroom facilities in several locations and power outlets for a quick charge.

Best,         DennisT
