Hello all.  Just acquired a nice little Fox 25 rc (though not with a RC carb). Older model with a rectangular base to the carb/venturi mount.  A little clean up and it ran great on my bench.  But its lacking a muffler.  Seems to have the same exhaust port as my Fox 29 (which I also don't have a muffler for.....), same mount holes, etc.   Would anyone happen to have a muffler that might fit this little jewel? Its a touch loud as it is....

             Gary, I'm assuming this is the 4 bolt backplate. This is the engine that has the venturi that screws to the case? The actual muffler that came with that engine is a bit hard to source. This is because it's a Fox muffler that actually works or at least better than what was the last of the current offerings. That engine used the over and under 2-56 screws which was very poor and if not careful the screw could push the liner and fubar things up pretty bad if not careful due to those holes going all the way to the liner. A Fox .35 stunt muffler can be used. You could use a strap or a radiator hose clamp. The stunt .35 muffler would be easier to source. Ken

Ken, I appreciate the info!  Yes, your guess as to the layout of this engine is spot on.  Screwed on carb base, over/under muffler mount holes.  I have a 35 Stunt with a muffler on my Shoestring Stunter, Ill have to see if I can engineer a way to switch it back and forth if I cant come up with a second muffler.   From what I have read tonight this little 25 is a well made engine, with performance more like a 29, and with a bit less weight to boot.  Ought to make a great engine for a Ringmaster in the not too distant future.

Meanwhile, still hoping for a muffler to just dedicate to it....  I guess this opens it up to a muffler that would fit anything from the Fox 25 thru the 35 Stunt.

I too am looking for mufflers for the Fox 25's.  I have been getting the engines on the bay when some one doesn't think they are like gold.   Right now the two good mufflers I have are in use on my B-25.   Thought of modifying tongue mufflers but I need the nose weight.  Yes the water hose clamp works if the adjustment thing wasn't so big.  Good luck on your search and I will try not to get in a bidding war on the bay with you.

I believe those over/under screws are actually 3-48.  They can be had but are not easy to find.  It's a terrible mounting system because the screws are hard to keep tight and the lug on the muffler is very flimsy.  They break easily.  If the muffler also has mounting holes on the end of the shoulder, you can use a strap around the cylinder and bolt through the end mounting holes.   Much stronger.

I have one of the over/under mount types, but doubt you would want this clunker on your engine!

I have not put them on the scales, but it feels like the muffler is nearly as heavy as the Fox 25 engines I have!

Several of our forum members are in the vendors section, and offer tongue type mufflers. You might contact them to see if they have something.

Theres two or three for these , the early toob one , the later toob one , with fore & aft plus under & over , maybe a third fore & aft only ,
and the great late dunger drooped Fox 35 one .



this illustrates the dual thingo set up , later injun with fore & aft lugs . This Muffler with a strap might be the way to go .



Im fact ive usedem with a copper  strap on em , copper isnt really adequate , as it cracks .

Hi Gary, You might want to try the super skinny clamps which are intended for dryer vents to use to mount your mufflers. You simply cut the clamps to yield two ends which may be mounted to the muffler and then strap around the bypass side of the block. Just don't get too strong with the screw as you might warp the case and there ruin your day! If your engine has muffler lugs use lengths of brass tubing through which you may run a 4:40 screw to attach the muffler. The tubing is there to protect you form breaking off the cast on lugs. Fix the tubes to the exhaust stack with JB Weld or PC-7. The screw method is better than the strap on idea just pick the one you like best as both will work well if treated gently!
