Me too! great pics! The fellow in the ninth picture standing is George Waters. He hails from Pennsylvania and is a PHILLY FLYER. He was down in S. LA. visiting his daughter and decided to bring a few planes and compete. The 10th pic shows him flying and the 15th pic is of him being presented with second place award for Profile Advance. Great sportsman and nice guy! Hope we see him again next year.

Doug and Brent, you guys and your crew put on a really fun and very well run contest. I had a great time and I told my daughter that I probably will do it again next year if all goes well. I met a lot of new faces and some old friends as well, and learned some tricks.  George

Yes sir, most definitely. Come on down whenever works best for you. I'll be getting off work at 11 on Friday, hopefully, but you are welcome to come down Thursday eveing and fly all day Friday if you like.

Sorry, I should have worded that as "I hope to see my friends on November 4th and 5th". :)

Thanks George for the kind words. It was a real pleasure to have you visit and compete. I certainly hope you can do it again next year. Hopefully our weather will be better. This was only the second in some 20 odd yrs. we have had a storm come in on us and the very first time we cancelled a day of competition. We decided Sat evening to call the contest off for Sun. The storm hit Sun. morning at 10:00 AM. Winds were in the 40-60 mph range in Zachary with driving rain. It probably lasted about 45 min. then cleared with sunshine and no wind.
I was wondering if you could give me the names of the aircraft and designer, the brand engine and size, covering material, type paint, total wt., and brand fuel/nitro/oil  you flew in each event (PROFILE-CLASSIC-WAR BIRD) at our contest. All this info. will go on the Stunt Hanger contest results section of the forum and to Howard Rush to put in the PAMPA "STUNT NEWS" magazine. A lot of guys are always interested in the plane/eng./finish/fuel combinations. I must say you had a good running eng. on your flights.
Anyhow, I wish you and your family the best,
                                God Bless,

The p47 is my design using an rsm thunderbird wing rib set. It is powered by a Merco  61 and it weighs about 59 oz. It is a siklspan and dope with autoclear topcoat.

The thunderbird is an rsm kit rojett 40 rear exhaust,it weighs 51 last time it was checked, brodak dope over sikspan with autoclear topcoat. Fuel was rojett 10/22 in the tbird and vp10/22 for the p47,later I used 10/22 mixed with 30/20 for a 16%mix . The props were a 13/5 revup on p47 and a modified 12/5 pro zinger cut to 11.5

We made a serious mistake on the CLASSIC SCOREBOARD. Thank God IT was pointed out to me before the awards were given. We had the second place winner in 7TH. Jim Lee finished second, so this moved Jim Lynch to third. We changed the order after this pic. was taken. Sorry I didn't notice this sooner on these posted pictures.

Did Jim Lee take his second flight after the picture was taken?  If so, I presume it wasn't much better than his first-round score.

Howard, Jim passed on the second round. James your picture did not cause any problem. The problem was simply a mistake by the person posting scores. Stuff happens- the tabulators and score runners always do a very good job, no make that great job! I should have caught the mistake sooner, instead of a contestant pointing out the mistake. Anyhow, I'm glad it was caught before awards went out. So all is well. I use to help the ladies with posting scores and other stuff up till a few years ago, but got fired for mistakes and generally being in the way! Wise move on their part!
