A few of us got out today.
« on: April 11, 2010, 07:37:21 PM »
Well the sun was out bright, but at least the wind was not blowing 25+ mph.
A few of us got out and punched holes in the sky today.

Fun was had by everyone that showed up!

We had a great turnout today but the only planes getting any air under their wings were about 35,000 feet up. We got a lot accomplished though.

Great shots guys, always good to see some fun happening...

Can I ask a question about the runways you guys have on your flying circles... we dont use them here... (we mow the grass nice and short) Do you have to (or try to) land on the runway too?

Yea, we finally got out yesterday, too. Saturday was a blow out (winds 22-28 with gust to 35+). But Sunday was nice weather and pretty warm for this time of year (58-60F or so). It was nice to do some flying again.

Just so there is no confusion... there is a little distance between Elwyn's flying field and mine. About 500 miles. LL~

I wonder if that is going to be the new carrier deck in Tulsa?  Really nice field even with grass circles.  y1

Paul I like your sight also.  Grass to me is easier on planes when it is kept mowed, something I was lax on at our field. :)

Warren;  our guys are spoiled.  If they don't have a perfectly flat paved surface they can't take off or land to please the judges. LL~ LL~  But, in reality Tulsa has some fine grass circles.  Topeka has lost it's paved circle to a childrens museum.  Nothing like having a good politician. n~ H^^

Another usual day here in the middle of Kansas. Wind gusting to 42 MPH. Just a little to strong for even the Bi-Slob. Maybe it will drop to 25 or so for one day, and I will go fly. Oh Well! I am saving fuel. LL~

"Take offs are optional, landings are mandatory" Seriously though, when sport flying I usually just try to get the plane landed back at the take off spot . What with backing up and such to keep line tension during the landing, I doubt that the plane would be lined up for a landing on the pad on most flights.

If you get over ,so after backing up , the planes lined up, its lined up.

Out flying three planes , coming in over two , there was a clear 'snick' as someting touched.
This happened on two flights.Planes sitting on the cricket pitch.

Theres no way Id try this intentionally/Thered be pieces of aeroplane everywhere .
