Thanks Doc! I'm assuming the plane with the 13 is a 12. Are they both yours?

If I remember correctly the 12 belongs to Jerry Chambers.  I am sitting here and think I have figured out how to do captions on the photos, or put name in the file.  DOC Holliday

Second pic is Randy Powell., Pete Peterson, Rod Claus (Kraut), and Art Zehner (hope I spelled it right), left to right. Third pic is Randy Powell and Ty Marcucci. I can't figure anybody on pic 1, except the guy on the rt. might be Gordon Delaney, but I'm not 100% certain.  D>K Steve

PS: Last pic (with camera), is Rikki Pyatt. Jack with Doc's Spitfire, and I assume that's Clint O. with his Chimpunk?

Hey Doc thanks for the picture of the 4 Amigoes. Now they can all prove that they really did go to Tuscon. Wish I would have been there. I hear that you stired the   pot at the apearence judging by seeding it with a Humongeos. Thats a good thing and they probably don't understand your sence of humor. Have a good day Doc and keep flying. LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ HB~>

In Pic 1 - Front row. I am not sure of the gentleman on the left side in the front rows name but center front row is Gene Martine and right  is Gordon Delaney. In the rear row right is Steve Holt and left is my self (Jim Snelson). Also in the back ground you can see my CLC traveling store with my mother Barbara sitting  at the table. What the photo does not show is the airplane we were looking at. It was Walter Umlands Ringmaster Imperial that will now hang in my store here in Albuquerque.

Thanks for the info fellows.  I too don't recognize the one fellow in pic 1.  But, pic 7 is Bill Wilson and his Panther.  Says he never gets his picture taken.  Photo 8 is Joe Bowman and his Road Runner which is much better looking than the picture.  Both are great gentlemen from down south.  Don't know who belongs to the P-63.  DOC Holliday

The guy on the left of pic #1 looks like it might be the same dude with the Panther, Bill Wilson.  :! We could just say it is...  n~ Steve

FWIW, after judging Classic for two days and wandering around scoping out the flyers for three days before hand, I've got to point out that the dude with the Panther is, indeed, Bill Wilson and Bill is, indeed, the real thing when it comes to flying tricks.  I watched several practice flights on the grass that were as good as anybody's on the perennial "hot dog" practice circle.  Crisp corners, nailed bottoms and consistently the best sizes of anybody practicing.

I got a whiff of some nerves on his official flight for us which didn't quite come up to what I saw on the practice ones.  Once he gets rid of any nerves (he doesn't need 'em because he is really, really good enough to fly anywhere) he's going to be right there come the end of day two.

Although it pains me to admit it, the two guys who impressed me the most (for unanticipated excellence, that is) both came from the Lone Star state.  Bill was good as described, but the one who blew me away during officials was none other than Linda Bob's less loquacious other half, Dale Gleason. He not only "nailed" 45 degrees to a degree that "nobody" else did, he combined it with absolutely awesome shapes, bottom and corners.  I kept wanting to peek under his Lone Ranger mask to see who was hiding under there!  I don't know who's been coaching him, but he must be stunt's equivalent of golf's Harmon brothers.  I didn't have a chance to check scores but I'm reasonably certain he must have been very happy with what I wrote down.

Good jobs by both of these nice guys.

Ted

p.s.  judging beside Ms Ricki Pyatt for two days was a complete delight.  Sharp, well versed on the rules and uniformly and conscientiously attentive to all 80+ flyers we judged; from Billy's little buddy Bobby (you had to be at the banquet) to # 87 or so.

Mr. Lucky was a "lucky" man.

So now I've got to go buy a new hat, ten sizes larger!

Thank so much, Ted, but now the pressure is on me for sure!

Hi Dale(Ole Dad),  I don't think we have to worry about you buying a new hat after reading Ted's comments.  You are too humble and too much of a gentleman to let words of praise get to you.  I also have watched your progress thru the years and it seems you work very hard with a lot of talent.  Just think if we lived in Southern Cal where we could fly year round what it would be.  I loved that Skylark, it has always been one of my favorites.  May have to build mine in memory of Ken Smith.  DOC Holliday

Thanks Doc,
I certainly appreciate the kind words from the newest "Keeper of the Flame". My Skylark is a Ken Smith kit. It was built in memory of both Ed Southwick and Ken Smith. Until I got it, I didn't know Ken had made stunt kits, I had built his excellent Carrier and Quickie Rat kits. Bill Byles, who was very close to Ed, drew the plans and also helped me with the control system. I've been advised to start another one as a backup, anyone with a spare Ken Smith Skylark please let me know.
Thanks again,
dale gleason
