Title: A Clarification
Post by: Mike Griffin on November 08, 2011, 07:57:07 AM
I wanted to clarify something about the custom kits I produce whether they be laser cut or hand cut.

The only hardware I put in the kit is a landing gear and a canopy if the kit calls for one.  I have had some calls wanting to know why I do not put a bell crank, leadouts, push rods, connectors, etc...in the kit.

At one time I did until I found out that the majority of the time they were not being used because the builder had their own ideas of what they wanted to use for control systems and trim accessories.  I found out rather quickly that I could not please everyone with the type of hardware I was putting in the kit so in order to eliminate that problem and also lower the cost of the kit, I no longer put any hardware or trim accessories in the kits.

I hope this will help clear up any questions anyone may have had regarding this issue.

Thanks Brian..it really just became a waste of money for me and the customers...this way they have the choice of the controls they want to use and I can price the kits accordingly....just makes sense..

tell you what would be  sweet idea - that would be that you provide an option for it - maybe using Tom Morris stuff - I cant get it here and would be awesome if it could be made to match the kit

Get out of my head Wynn...  :)...actually I had thought that exact same thing today before I posted.  Tom could certainly make them for me.  I know a couple of years ago I ordered a "fitted" control system for a Nobler and I think it was around $30.00 then....I have been flirting around with doing that though Wynn.

Part of the reason I don't like building from a kit is having to feel guilty about throwing away all that hardware because I want something different.

So leaving out the hardware is a good start.
