I have a now rare book called "The Mighty Eighth".  It has the entire WW2 history of the group, and hundreds of drawings of the B 17 and B 24 bombers.   H^^
Ty they have that and some other books at the store in the museum.  May be a newer printing and may be the only place now to get it.

You must of had a blast with your grandson along.  I bet he was tuckered out also.
John we were both tuckered out.  We left the museum store with shirts, hats and toys and got pizza.  Quite a day.

The MiG is actually a 17 vs a 15.  I always get a kick out of that B-47 they have parked out back.  I think there is an F4-C on display outside now as well.

The BF-109 and P-51 are actually fiberglass replicas.  If they still have the ME-163, that is original, on loan from the Smithsonian.

Me, Willis and Tate used to stop there on the way back from King Orange.  For a long time, all the docents there seemed to not only be AAF veterans of WWII but it seemed like every one had survived a shoot down over Germany!  They had some harrowing tales to tell.  Its a great little museum to visit.

Dave, great pictures and thanks for taking the time to put them up. BTW great pictures of some real A-2 Jackets, my favorites. Can you imagine if those jackets could talk. I'll have to put this on my museums to visit.
Thanks

I stand corrected. Indeed the Mig is a 17a.  Hard to tell the difference.  The F4 and B-47 are there though seem out of place here.  I didn't get around back to get a pic with the B-47.  It's back there next to the hiway for attention.  There were a few areas we didn't get too but it was all great.  After missing a flight due to a late connection in Atlanta I got in late last night.  I left a sunny 84 and 5 mph wind and here have rain,  70  and 12-18 mph wind so you can guess what happened to my plan to practice today......

Great Pictures. Here is what a B-47 looks like. This one is at Little Rock, AR. I went through B-47 Combat Crew Tng there Feb-Mar. 1968 before son was born. My son went through MC-130 Cr Tng. there many years later.

I would like to go to that Museum someday soon. 8th AF, 2nd Bomb Wing, 429th and 96th Bomb Squadrons.

Thank you very much for the post.

Another great museum is the Pima Air Museum in Tuscon.   I have been to it several times and see something new each time.  It is a huge place and can't be covered in one day.  There are several smaller exhibits there too, like the one devoted to the air crews of the B-17.  Also, thanks Dave for the pictures.

Any other instrument pilots check out the attitude indicator in the ME-109 control panel pic? Way ahead of its time, both in design and placement on the panel. Larger than the other instruments and centered to the pilot as befits its importance in an instrument situation. Also, combined with a turn indicator (needle/ball), all in the same instument. Brilliant, especially for 1940 or whenever. 8)
