The 6th CENTRAL FLORIDA FLY-IN at Lake Wales is on. It looks as though we will have the full use of the property the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so come on up, over, or down for a fun day of non contest flying. See the events section of this site.

Phil:
I will be there by noon on Friday to help with set up and if there just happens to be time for some flying, well, so be it.
Looks like some of the other X47 guys will be there also.

Phil,
Great news! #^
Always a great time at your Fly-In.
See you there. H^^Roger V.

Excellent! I'll be there for sure, hopefully flying my Vampire with a new Brodak25. First flights tomorrow AM .... :-)
Lets hope for the nice weather, just like we've had all this week!
See ya then, Larry
-
Chuck Feldman, are you going to be there? How about you Tampa area guys? This is always a fun day. Don't miss out!!
Bill H.

Ward-O's hoping to be there! #^

Keeping my fingers crossed, I am in town ( on call) and waiting to see if I get sent cross country on short notice Monday morning.
In the mean time I'll sneak in some repair work and hope for the best. I have a replacement motor for the Shoestring that spit it's piston baffle out the exhaust over in Cocoa a few months ago, and a few others that can be revived on short notice. Of course Murphy's law says if I get the planes ready- something is sure to happen to prevent me from making it out to fly!
-
Bill,
Yes I plan on being there. Will arrive around noon. See you there.

Thanks to Phil and his clubs kindness and permission,
I will have 9 "T" (L and XL) shirts from our Vets Day Fly In which I will be selling at the 6th Central Florida Fly-In.
This year the shirt displays a B-17 on the back.
These are very good quality shirts, my shirt from last year, worn almost weekly, still looks good!
All funds collected are going directly in to the Disabled Vets Fund, no "Admin fees"! :-)
If you missed the Fly In and a chance to purchase a shirt, now is the time to do so. y1
thanks,
Roger Vizioli

Guys, looks like I will not be there after all. I decided to get sick instead. I have a real good chest cold and feel like crap.
Y'all have fun and somebody put up a flight for me.
Roger, I sent you an email.
Phil, see you sometime around the end of next week.

Bill,

Well I got a kitchen pass, got the Akromaster fixed, test fired the .36 for the Shoestring, and the weather looks promising- I think I'll actually make it!
1st snag is finding a glow starter, I left 2 in Portland and another in Phoenix- "hey buddy- can you spare a light?"
-
Bill,
We have power sources!
See ya!
Roger
-

Well I hope you guys/gals have a great day today. I finally get fed up and loaded the car and went to the school where I do crossing duty. Got several flights on two of the Stuka's that were in the Light Finishing post. Need narrow spacing on the handle. Was going to fly the Arctic Fox now its back together, but, the B-40 refused to start. Anyway dont' forget to post pictures.
-
Well it all came together, not only was I able to get the planes in the truck and make it to Lake Wales without getting a ticket ( but plenty of Troopers and assorted Law Officers were working O.T. on the road), the weather was great and the planes were flying on all 3 circles.
With the help of a borrowed glow driver and a 1/2A starter the TeeDee in my 25+ year old COX Super Chipmunk came to life. It only made 1 flight- but it wll fly again.
The Shoestring with fresh rebuilt Fox flew great, the Akromaster flew but the TT.15 would not hold a steady needle set ing so it was retired early to fly another day. Everything came back pretty much in 1 piece, and that is a what is called a Great Day in my book. Wish I could say the same for Roger V. - his fine flying 1/2A Pathfinder fell victim to a broken up line and hit hard - bummer.
Thanks Phil for hosting - and the rest of the Ridge Barnstormers for their generosity and support, and everyone who assisted and loaned me glow drivers, starters and advice. Great Job guys.

Yeah Bill, arghhhhh! HB~>
Baby Pathfinder #2
Lines went slack in an overhead due to gust of wind. Stepped back and pulled to save it, plane hit end of lines very hard (for small plane!)! Up line broke, inboard hit terra firma during an "unplanned" outside loop!!
I guess this is a good re-kitting job. All left wing "parts ?" are contained in a wrapper, aka left wing covering! mw~
There will be another, be it a restoration of the first one (has over 300 flights) or a new one. H^^
In spite of the above, it was a great day flying with friends.
Sulking,
Roger V.

Aw I hate to see a damaged airplane, but, that looks like an easy rebuild. I was out flying Friday and Saturday. Flying the Stuka's and trying to start B-40 on Friday. Saturday engine on saturday and got one flight and partial on the Arctic Fox before the replacement engine tried to leave the plane. Thanks for the pictures.

Heres a few of my better pics.
Phil, Thanks for putting this on! I always have a great time!

I had a great time as did everyone else. weather cooperated. good to see everyone again. thanks go to Phil for putting on a great fly-in. Larry thank you for posting a picture of my new plane, the Jamison. Dave R.

Dave - I know you dont like that OTS plane ... you should give it to me. LOL! Amazing that you had a motor with ya, and had it in the air in an hour. That Fox35 pulled it around great!! Good luck with it!

Larry - Sorry I didn't get to hang out more with you, the circles spread out made for a lot of running around. Thanks for the great pic's and the especially nice one's of my new T-Rex maiden flights! I was up till 2AM the night before the fly-in assembling the clunk tank, fuel proofing the engine bay and putting on some half-arsed fillets. I can see in the photo's the wing was still up just like it looked from in the circle. Nothing was tested, not even the tank for leaks, and I took a huge WAG on trim, so all things considered, I got a full pattern on the second flight at Coopy's even with the wing up like that, so I'd call it a successful first outing. It needed some heat applied to the wing and tip weight removed, which is exactly what I did when I got home. Changed the control ratio a smidgen, and widened the handle spacing and flew it again today and it's coming along VERY nicely.
Big thanks to Phil Coopy for the Fly-In, it was great seeing everyone, and the food was great as usual. Memorable moments include Robert Willis marathon 1/2A flights, heaven forbid he ever fills that tank all the way. His Brodak warbird Lag3 is an awesome profile, done up in a great dope finish. Flew as good as it looked too. The Smith brothers had their original design Tracers in good form, and Waynes grandson Sam is improving at an exponential rate with that Nobler.

Eric - The T-Rex flew great, considering how quickly you put it together! Engine, prop, needle setting, trim .... all pretty darn close on a maiden flight. You flew some nice overheads on the second flight ... impressive plane out of the box! It seems I'll spend dozens of flights getting things just as close, but part of it is being able to identify what it needs. I'm slow at it .... LOL! Trimmed 3ft off my Vampire lines yesterday, now that I 'think' I know where the Brodak 25 engine likes to run.... nice improvement!
The electric Super Clown that was on the far circle at the Fly-In was impressive! Running on 70' lines, it flies with authority at 5 sec. laptimes! It flew a nice pattern. Was my first first-hand look at an electric C/L plane .... I can see why they're becoming popular.
Young Sam Niebel is doing well with that Nobler .... cant recall the engine in it, but it runs a beautiful 4-2-4. He's improved immensely since last year. Good teachers, I suspect. :-)

Thanks Phil and all that helped and participated for a great Fun Fly, sorry I had to leave early as the weather was getting even better. I definitely enjoyed hanging out with friends that I do not get to see to often.
Thanks Eric for the kind words about the Lagg3. I do plan to reduce the size of the fuel tanks on those 1/2A, they are getting better fuel economy then I expected. That little AP61 with Jan's venturi sure performed well, I need a bigger model for that engine.
-
The Lagg 3 looks very nicely done. I'm so glad that you didn't make the common mistake of putting the red stars on the top surfaces of the wing. H^^

Richard,
Nah, better to leave the pic there. It will push me to have a replacement ASAP, as soon as the R'Master Gold S-1 is off the bench.
