Title: 5s battery vs 6s on a twin
Post by: Ken Culbertson on February 19, 2024, 01:28:13 PM
I am stuck getting the right ESC's for my twin.  2x BadAss 2320-820kv motors.  There is a huge weight penalty going from 2 Spin 33's to 2 Spin 44's for the ESC's.  I want to use Spin since all of my other planes use them and Fiorotti timers so one Jeti Box services everything.  Unfortunately the Spinn 33 only supports up to 5s.  My question is simple.  Can I power a 65-70oz 700sq" twin on a single 5s 2800?  I have been told that the drain may actually be less from the 2 small motors vs the 3515 it would take as a single motor.

What say ye?

Ken, Talk to Frank McMillan. He has two twins that fly great, and building another.

whats the weight penalty?
2 1/2 ounces + the wire.  I can use 14 gauge on the 33 but I will need 13 if I can find it for the 44.  The battery is a wash.  Crist's 6s Li-ion 2800's are the same weight as the TP 5s 2800.  I am really concerned about weight on this one.
