Title: 526 Ringmaster
Post by: Richard Grogan on February 22, 2008, 05:29:31 PM
Here is the new Ringmaster 526 that was designed by Pat Johnston and Dee Rice. I hear there's a 1/2A version of it on the horizon!Plans and a short kit will be available soon!

Great look! I like the red!

Hey wwwarbird, didn't you build a revamped Skyray last winter?
If so, How did you like the way it flew?

Wayne, this was a very early, very short kit I got from Dee Rice(plans, fuse, ribs and lite ply doublers). If you are interested in plans or a little longer kit, you can contact Dee or Pat at the brotherhoodofthering.info  forum website.

Here's a couple of pixs of it and Dee's 576 .

The 576 (576 sq. in.) for the LA46 was developed along the Beringer lines of airfoil and flaps by Pat Johnston.  Dee has flown his 576 for quite a while now.  It is all he expected and more, I understand.

The 526 came next (mainly just shrunken) for .40 size engines.

Pat just sent me a revised set of *207* plans for a Norvel .061 Big Mig.  I got the 576 plans when the plane was announced, and thought about a 1/2A size on the same planform.  Pat came through with a set of plans suited for a .049/.061 after I bugged him for a while!   It looks great on paper.

There have been a LOT of new designs based on the Ringmaster lately, including a 1000 sq. in. *S-1*, a .60 sized Biplane, a really enlarged Super Ringmaster, etc., etc..

A real eye opener is an S-1 Lite from Pat (OTS legal) that is designed to build in the low 20 oz. range.  Power is the Brodak .25 or LA .25.

From what I understand, Pat and Dee Rice went in on a laser cutter and are going to be offering laser cut parts for all of Pat's plans, according to Pat.

I'd bet that full kits of both the 576 and 526 would sell pretty well. I'd buy one.

Not trying to steal this thread, but I saw mention of a 60 size "Biplane" I know the builder and he won't mind if you have a peek.  LOL Bare bones almost ready to cover. Plans available from Pat Johnston. This one is ST .60 powered and 715 sq. in. area. The builder is me.

There are so many new variations of the Ringmaster that I cannot keep up!  And i have been part of the BOTR for a while now!  Trying to keep up with G-Man is like trying to go bowling on solid ice!

Oh, it is basically finished...... waiting on some custom decals at last word (and good weather!)

Been a dozen or more variations since then! LOL!!!!!!

The *top of the line* stunter, so far, is the 576.  Beringer style airfoil and flaps, 576 sqs., LA 46 or similar.  Could be the best profile ever!

Nothing happened to it Doc. You did not fall asleep. Many things happened , even life got in the way and reared its ugly side. I am just now getting all the commitments back on track. I don't complain about anything that is why you did not know. I keep things to myself unless they are good things.  LOL  As Bill said we are waiting for the decals to dress it up and pictures of it and the finished "Biplane will follow.

Now, for the "Biplane" Wayne asked for the build, I ran it by "Sparky" and he OK'd it. I will start it Monday in the Build section of this "Forum". This is not your Mamas "Ringmaster". It is a 715 sq. in monster powered by a ST .60. In the picture above with me holding it it weighs only 41 0zs. The engine, tank, spinner and wheels are installed. We expect it to come in around 60 ozs or less. Airfoil is also the Berringer type.

As for variations, there are 22 right now either on paper, being built or completed. There is even one that will be "Sport Jet" powered, "The PulseMaster" . That one is being built by "jetbill" and myself. This is one of the reasons Bill says you can't keep up with me.

Stay tuned, it will be a heck of a ride.

Billy G has become a master Ringmaster!

We need more than a 3 ring circus to keep up with him.

Bill Big Bear.. Is it possible that you have a set of special laser ribs that I did? I will not divulge the actual project, until Billy G says it is OK

Nope, Big Bear is not one of the "SDR" Crew. Now that I said "SDR" Tom you may have the honor of introducing it to the publig. Post a couple of pictures if you wish'

My appologies to Rich Grogan, didn't start out to Hi-Jack this thread it just happened.  LL~

Brother Richard, always the gentleman, even around G-Man (plus Oswald and Latimore) and ME!!

No, Brother Tom, I am not in on the SDR.  I figured I would grow my own balsa forest so that I would have enough wood before I started that one! LL~

Thank you for your concern "Doc".  I am one of the fortunate ones, I only need 2 to 3 hrs sleep a day. Here is the "Special Project" Tom spoke of, better known as the "SDR". It is an 84' monster of the "Super Ringmaster.  LOL
