5 engine B-17

Hi Tony
There was also a 5 engine piston powered B-17. Full details at the Teterboro Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum.
Basically the fifth engine was a 42 cylinder Wright unit! 42! There engines were made and one sits in Teterboro.
Flew from Teterboro as well.

Another B-17 was a test bed for the Typhoon turboprop engine.

That would be an interesting scale project, all electric. takeoff with the wing motors, start the center motor, then shut down the motors on the wings mid-flight cruise with the center motor, start up the wing motors again and shut down the center motor and land... Now that would be throttle control!
