4/40 socket head bolts
« on: March 30, 2011, 08:40:43 PM »
Where could I find 2" long 4/40 socket head bolts?  I only need 1 or 2.  I've tried the LHS, hardware stores and even the local bolt shop and the best I've found has been 1 3/4".

Fastenal sells 4-40X2" Socket Head Cap Screws in black oxide for $1.03 each.

There may be a store in your location.  I would have checked, but you don't list your state.

McMaster-Carr also lists them for $5.36 pkg/10.  They are mail order and easy to do business with.

I have seen ads in modeling magazines for small fasteners but I don't recall names at the moment.

Edit, I just checked a FM magazine:

Micro Fasteners lists them for $4.20 pk/10  http://www.microfasteners.com/catalog/products/SSCSCA.cfm

Dick,

Thanks, I'll see if there is a Fastnell in the area.  By the way, I'm in Missouri (it's listed in my profile).

Thanks again,

James

Chris,

We get up that way from time to time, last time we were fighting snow and dodging deer on the way home.  I live in Ozark, between Springfield and Nixa.  Same offer back at ya, we have had a clinic and fun fly the last two years.  Do a search and you should be able to find pictures of the new circle the city put in a few years ago.  I got to warn you up front, I'm a Bears fan not a Chiefs fan (but I do root for the Chiefs over the Rams, that should get the St. Louis guys going LL~}.

James, there are (from my previous post) 2 in Springfield and 1 in Nixa, so you should be all set.

Southerlands Lumber carries a pretty full line of socket head bolts also. I have picked up some very long 6-32, and other unusual sizes from them.
