40 dollar prop [emoji37]

Here is what happens when a $40 prop make contact with asphalt.


It was a 10 in Rev Up Wide prop. No longer made. So would cost an arm and a leg to get one. Last time I check a arm and a leg = $40. LOL

Big Ron said I did not field trim this prop correctly. I'm still learning. 😝

You went a little too far. Jim Lynch is a master of my technique but you have a ways to go.

   People are willing to pay $40 for a Rev-Up? I think I just found a way to retire early!  I think I used a Rev-Up 10-6W to mix up a batch of SuperFil the other day.

   I've also got a full box - box, mind you - of Top Flite 10-6's (conventional rounded blade) from the 60's. That usually works a lot better than a Rev Up, so I figure $80 is no unreasonable. A bunch of Rev-Uo 12-6's as well. I am set for life.

The picture doesn't do justice to what happened to the plane. The engine didn't quit the first time the prop hit the asphalt.
I would think the wing needs to be stripped and inspected.

There might be a good reason why certain prop brands are no longer made!  If they were that good, I would think the market would be ever-expanding.

I have a few.

Rev Up 16- 4.5

Rev Up 11-4 reduced to 10.6 dia.

Rev Up 14-7 reduced to 13"

TF 14-6

TF 12-4

I recently saw a $50 wood three blade turned into a ducted fan prop........but I won't say by who!  (No, not me)

Plant it and it should grow a new blade. Oh wait; you already tried that and it didn't work.

I saw 6 of those go for like $ 150 on Ebay. There is a vendor on Ebay named Gatafish who has those. He's very nice to deal with. He sold 6 of those (not in a package) to me off line for a fraction of the auction price. Check him out!

The plane was cracked around the sheeting top and bottom but I don't think the spar broke or can't feel any broke ribs. No wood is rattling around in the wing.
