Title: .40 Diesel plane suggestions?

      Hello All:

      I am seeking advice re. a stunt/sport airplane to be powered by a .40 Diesel engine.  I have two engines, one weighs 10 oz. and one weighs 14 oz.   The one is a OS with a DDD conversion and the other is an Irvine.

      I prefer a profile, Pathfinder, but am open to other options.

      Yes I know that it is a sickness. Lol

Not a sickness AT ALL! Just a different way of having fun.

Although a bit heavy, the Irvine is extremely powerful - purpose built as a C.I. (Diesel) engine.
It will pull a 60 size plane although I'm not familiar with a profile that large.
You may be able to find a set of ribs from Brodak and scratch-build what you need.

Well Frank, welcome to the crazy house.  I too have a drawer half full of Model Diesel Engines. I think you'll find that a .40-sized diesel will swing a large prop. Think 13 to 16-inch Dia. A 1.25X + Pathfinder Profile with a 3/4" thick fuse should be considered. Shorten the nose or you'll have to either add weight to the tail or make the rear fuselage longer to balance it all out.
I once campaigned a Fancherized Twister with a Davis Diesel Conversion of a K&B .28. It was a good matchup.
