This a plane I started back in March as something to keep me going and looked different in construction. The change I made was a metal tank instead of a Sullivan 2 oz. clunk tank shown on the plans. Also the canopy is balsa carved and sanded to shape. It is called 4 Star designed by Tom Jolly. Wing span is 44 3/8 inches, center chord is 9 inches with tip chord of 8 1/2 inches after cutting trailing edge taper. Yes the wing is built like a rectangular wing and the trailing edge of the ribs are sanded round so there are little bumps along the trailing edge. Power is an LA 25 with a Jim Lee insert in the venturi and Randy Smith needle valve assembly. Runs great on the bench. Weight as it sits is an even 32 ounces, Finish is all Monokote with doctor paper under the monokote on the wing. Have epoxy in the engine area. The engine is mounted using Dubro plastic mount. Now I need to just get out and fly it along with abou 4 other planes waiting to be test flown, especially with the reengineered combat wing launching pad. More later.
