Title: Re: 4-40 Titanium Pushrod Insert
Post by: BillLee on January 10, 2018, 10:26:10 AM
Some time ago I got the 4-40 Titanium Pushrod Inserts from SHH. I got 2 right hand and 2 left hand. I decided to use both right hand ends and they've been working with no problems. Then I found a way to make the ends from 4-40 bolts using a slightly smaller (.180") carbon rod. Anyway, I have a new build and a piece of the bigger 3/16 rod I can use for the flaps with the 2 left hand rod ends just to use all this stuff laying around. I decide to cut 1/4" off the rod ends because they are way too long and to make a long story short, these things didn't spark out with the cut off wheel or the grinder. From what I can tell dang things are stainless steel.

Did you try and pick them up with a magnet?

Its possible they are SS. You are correct, Titanium should throw a bright white spark when run against a grinding wheel. Also there should be a weight difference between the SS and the lighter titanium. I buy mine from Central Hobbies and they have been titanium in the past. I have also had SS ones bought elsewhere....Gene
