I am having one heck of a time trying to find 4-40 threaded clevis. Sullivan used to sell them 12 in a pack but I cannot find them on line anywhere. Anyone know where I could find them?
Thanks
Mike

You can buy Sullivan Products direct. I recently bought some RC pushrods and the shipping cost was very fair.

Would something like this work for you?
I have these made for me, either 4-40 thread or 3mm X .5mm pitch. I insert a section of 1/8 OD brass tubing into each lug for a bushing since I use 3/32 music wire for the pinned joint.

Hi Jim,
If it is for a 4-40 thread, yes it would. What do you use as a retaining pin to secure the clevis?
Thanks

Frank, I went to their website and unless I missed it, I could not find the packs of individually packed clevis. I saw pushrods with a clevis on them but no individual packs of just clevis.

Not a real good photo here but I hope it helps. This clevis is very generic but I suppose it can be modified for specific situations. My horns are made with an upright and bushing to match the clevis internal width. I use a 3/32 wire as the pin. One end of the pin is bent over slightly and a wheel collar on the other end.

I think the best 4-40 clevis that were available were the plated ones by Great Planes, but are not available any longer. I never had a problem with one of those on a .46 size mode or smaller. I have seen and experienced Du-Bro clevises breaking from vibration and I think the plating on the Great Planes units gave them more strength.
Type at you later,

I could see how it was attached. Where do you buy these Jim?

Those are the ones I used to use as well Dan. Seems like a lot of these smaller items are getting harder and harder to find.

Mike,
Dubro makes something called a safety lock clevis that is plastic and has served me well over time. I do not recall seeing anything bad on these over the years but they are a little wide to fit in the back of some airplanes. Below is a link to some available from Tower.

I have used these on three planes with zero issues where I did not have room for a ball link. Just be careful to get the clip locked and in it's tracks and make sure you have bushed the horn with tubing that fits that tiny pin or you will get the dreaded "slop"
