Everyone,
The time has come for the pilgrimage to Muncie. I thought I would share what we are seeing for registration at this point and how I would like to deal with some issues with our somewhat compressed schedule. First the numbers (I am glad to see so many of you coming to join in the fun):
Open: 41
Advanced: 26
Junior: 2
Senior: 1
Beginner: 4
Intermediate: 11
N30: 19
Classic: 14
OTS: 12
Monday is a busy day with the N30/OTS/Classic events, weigh-in, appearance judging and the pilot's meeting. I checked with Mark Weiss and he would not authorize a 48 hour day, so we need to find a way to fit it all in. Based on what I have seen at contests as of late, about 5 flights per hour is normal. Starting at promptly at 8:30am and stopping at 2:30pm (so we can make the trip to the 180 building for processing) gives us 6 hours to fly or about 30 flights.
What we will do is fly a complete 1st round of the unofficial events on Monday (N30/OTS/Classic) and advance the top 10 to the 2nd round. I understand that this is not ideal so please consider prior to entering and share this information with all as it is a last minute change to the traditional events. Remember that you can pre-register with Vince Bodde over at the Intermediate circles on Sunday morning to help things move along a little quicker on Monday.
The 180 building is located at 4622 N Broadway Ave, Muncie, IN 47303 for appearance judging and the pilot's meeting. Their snack bar will be open so refreshments and some food items can be purchased. Please make every effort to attend as I will finalize the pilot's list and which class they will be flying. Once the flight order is set, it is set. If there is some reason you cannot make the event, tell me or have someone tell me so that action can take place prior to finalizing the flight orders.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you and hopefully catching some of your flights throughout the week. We will do our best to make this the best Nats possible. A crack free L-Pad and well trimmed grass circles should make this a banner year. If there are issues, please come see me for resolution, the volunteers are busy making the magic happen.
Thank you,
John
