2020 Nats call for Donations
« on: March 01, 2020, 10:08:09 AM »
The 2020 running of the Control Line Nationals will be July 12-18.  Planning is already well under way.  Raising money to cover some of the costs has become a necessary part of the program.  I am reaching out to everyone for help to cover two specific funds:

1.  Trophies and shirts for the officials.  Based upon the number of PRE-ENTRIES the AMA covers the cost of the first 1-2-3 trophies in most cases, and only for OFFICIAL events.   However we (PAMPA) award trophies out several more places and provide most trophies for the unofficial events.  The only outside help is that Brodak Mfg. covers all those for the Intermediate event.  We try, and have been very successful at raising enough money through donations to cover these costs without having to pull from the PAMPA treasury.  In the past couple cycles we've had to cover about $850 above what the AMA will pay.
This year may prove to be a little more challenging.  The trophies and shirts have long been made on-site at the museum by a couple AMA employees.  This year BOTH these gentlemen have retired and AMA decided not to replace them.  Now sourcing for these items is being taken outside and the costs could run higher.  I am in touch with HQ regularly and attempting to stay on top of these issues but can't yet nail down our actual costs.  Also in the past the AMA covered the entire cost of the shirts but was told some time back we may need to source these ourselves.   I plan to speak tomorrow with Yolanda and see where we are with that.  In the mean time I know we need to get in gear with gathering the funds we will need to have.
It would be best to send these donations to me directly and not donate through the PAMPA website.  It is not currently well-configured to gather donations and keep that separate from renewals.  I will be glad to accept your donations in these ways:

Paypal.  Simply send the donation to VegasDave4@gmail.com

Check by postal mail.  David J. Trible   9509 Melrose #3   Overland Park, Kansas  66214-2232     (or PAMPA at the same address)  Please make a note on the check "Nats Trophies"

I will try to honor your requests as received to show your name as the sponsor on specific trophies.  In other words " I would like to cover places 1-3 or 4-5 on Old Time Stunt" for example.  You can email me with that request as you make your donation.

2.  The Judges GoFundMe campaign.  This fund is already up and running.  Last year this fund helped to raise an additional $1200 to pass on to the invaluable working crew who help run the Nats on their own time and dime.  Yes AMA returns a certain percentage of the entry fees to us after the event to use as we see fit and this has been given as a bonus to help the crew with hotels and meals.  The GoFundMe makes these bonuses more meaningful.  Anytime you find a little change in your pocket pull up GoFundMe and help us there as well.

And here's another idea to help.  We all have certain treasures laying around our workshop gathering dust and which we know we will never use.  Post that old kit, engine or handful of props for sale here with the proceeds going to the Nats fund.  If desired I can furnish a receipt showing your donation to a non-profit corporation to attach to the tax return next year.

You have made this work well in the past and I'm sure you will do it again this year!  No donation is too small and each one is appreciated .
