HiModel props

Hey all, has anyone heard of or is using HiModel props? They have quite a extensive line of wood props but I've never heard of them.

It's what John Force uses to prop up the filler cans when he fuels a nitro engine.

I'm pretty new here as well  E props generally have a thinner hub and use less material, in other words nitro props are stronger and heavier.  That's not to say you can't use a E prop on a glow engine I have a APC 9X6E on a .25 glow with no problems.

They look like nice props at a good price but you have to buy one to find if the pitch runs true.

Right and like everything these days the price is right but the shipping is a B***h, 3 bucks a prop  snail mail is $5.00 and takes up to 2 months, 2 week shipping is 17 freakin bucks! Seriously for one little prop!! So do I take a chance and maybe throw away $8.00?  We will see.

Looks like the I C props are all identical , at least theyre all the same photograph . So proportions may vary, youd think .

Very interesting.  I have moves away from the APC props to the electric rated Master Airscrew.  I have no idea why but a three blade MA with a flat bottom airfoil performs better (for me) then the equivalent APC 2 blade and uses 15% less battery.  I would like to try one of these since finding a three blade reverse pitch 1 3/4" spinner that doesn't require credit references is nearly impossible.  So I tried and you have to join and become a member just to find out what the shipping cost would be and buy at least 3.

So, if anybody actually gets one of these please report back.  Also if anybody knows why a three blade 11 x 6 flat bottom MA outperforms a 12 x 6 under cambered APC I would like to know that too!

I bought a bunch of 12 x 6 and 13 x 6 E wood props from Hi Models in 2016. They were a great price. I compared them with the XOAR wood props and the blades were a little narrower. The pitch on all of my props was spot-on. I eventually found that the 13 x 6 cut down to 12" diameter worked for me with performance and current usage, and flew my planes better than the APC 12 x 6 E props IMHO.  I actually wanted the 12 x 6 props to try making some 3 blade props and they were cheap enough to waste if the didn't work. I did not get around to that project because other projects got in the way. I attached a photo with XOAR and APC 12" for comparison. They are lighter than the APC props and less flexible, but like I say, the width of the blades is a little narrower. Overall I would say that they are great value for money.

I've used them for gas and electric ..... they make the plane go forward .... they are cheap .... and delivery isn't that bad .... they have a lot of other interesting stuff ...
