Weather today is picture perfect.  The LPad ( Plateau of Kings) was busy from the earliest hour this morning.  Many are off recovering and getting ready to do it again this evening.

Anyone know where an event schedule can be found?  AMA refers you to PAMPA and there is nothing there.  Maybe I just missed it.  Surely it is posted somewhere!

Thanks - Ken

Today should evolve this way;  Most will take advantage of great weather this morning to practice but will cut it short to go get the airplanes dolled up and get to the 180 Building for the pilots meeting and appearance judging.  The events there are to begin at 2:30 so to the pilots,  try to be on site by that time.  Your main appearance judges are Charlie Reeves and Jim Lynch.  The Judges meeting will be held afterwards out at AMA Headquarters in the upstairs board room.
I am hoping someone (or several) will jump in to get those pictures today and post for all to see here.  I will be pretty busy.  I will post the circle assignments and flight order following the meeting,  after the computers have figured it out.  We are electing to use the computerized random draw method instead of the ping pong balls as the fastest and best way.

I agree Paul.

Couldn't possibly pick two guys that are more qualified to judge appearance or two guys that are nicer and would work better together!  I love them both!

If by chance you see them, please till them I said HELLO!

We were talking about Jim Lynch...A long time Stunt flier and builder that builds and finishes absolutely gorgeous airplanes.   The Charles in question is Charlie Reeves also a long time Stunt flier and builder that also build gorgeous stunt planes.  Neither of these Gentlemen are visitors to Stunt Hanger so are likely not known to some of the folks on this forum.

Suffice it to say that they are both Highly qualified to Judge anything connected to Stunt and building Model Airplanes.  They are both also two of the nicest Gentlemen you could ever hope to meet.  None better in the world!

Well the pilots meeting is over.  The flight orders are done and I will post them.  I hope someone will get some pics up but most headed to chow and practice.  I want to especially thank our “I T” crew who ran the computer operation and overcame a couple hurdles.

I hope that this isn't too dumb a question, but why does Group A only have 7 fliers versus 13 and 14 in the other groups?

Scott not a dumb question at all.  It has to do with the number of Advanced Class entries.  There quantities determine how the computer breaks them down into groups.  In this case three groups where the Open class numbers dictate four.  Each of the three Advanced groups are then attached to a circle with an open group-flying before the same judges.  The flight order program puts the Advanced group flying first,  followed by the open fliers.  Group A is all open and will finish early each day.  Depending upon weather that can be blessing or curse.  For sure, they can’t sleep in.

I saw Charles and assumed it was the Stunt Hangar scale builder Charles (Aviojet).

Charlie Reeves is a long-time stunt flier, master builder, and expert stunt pilot:

This is one of the rare times I have seen him when he was not smiling!

He and Jim Lynch are doing stunt appearance judging:

similar comment for Jim, also an expert stunt pilot. Note that these pictures are from the thread describing the restoration of Bob Gieseke's 1968 World Championship model, which has been entrusted to Jim.

Charles/Aviaojet is neither a scale builder nor is he a pilot. He is as diametrically opposite someone like Charlie as could possibly be imagined.

Just returned from the flying field.  This evening there were few who returned for practice . It was a bit breezy but not bad so I think most needed the night off to recover.  In the morning will be Classic/Nostalgia 30 and Old Time.
I realized I failed to mention a couple other people who helped the events of today.. Gene Martine and Stan Powell helped Charlie and Jim in the auditorium by weighing in and shuffling the airplanes around....Thanks Guys!  It helped get the job done and ready by the time the pilots meeting was over.  We had the whole process done and guys going out the door in just over two hours total.

I saw Charles and assumed it was the Stunt Hangar scale builder Charles (Aviojet).  I don't know his last name.

My mistake, Sorry.

Charlie Reeves and Jim Lynch have a combined 100 years or so of documented building, flying and competition experience. I am proud to call them friends.  As you point out, we don't know who Aviojet is. Nothing to add as Brett's description hits the nail on the head and pounds it home.

YIKES! I'm in the flight order and I did not even enter!!!  Missing it tho...

CD Doug Patterson has a plan to get the events done early and minimize the solar-time for pilots & judges.  Also wanted to be on the grass for the same reason.  I was at the field Sunday and it was in great shape.  Doug also made some plywood centers with anti-skid paint to improve the footing - addressing the single biggest problem with the grass circles.
