CABLESTRAND.015 FLYING WIRES
« on: October 23, 2015, 06:14:08 AM »
This product, I believe, is sold exclusively through Amazon.
 Seven strand  .015 x 1000' -$25 plus 3.75 to ship. Not bad.

My experience with it- not good.

Wire isn't level wound on the spool. Took off  first 20' -  discover that it is overlapped by several turns. Release and wind out more and damn- the same thing. Wire is tucked under a bunch of turns. Release and the same.  Now what is ahead appears  as nasty as a serious   backlash on a fishing reel.
At that point,  I decide that it's futile. Currently working through Amazon for a refund. The supplier, Findings Inc., is out of Arizona and has yet to reply .

Anyone use this stuff?

Maybe mine is an  isolated experience ?

I have,, actually both .015 and .018,, I did find the cable was twisted along its length,, but as long as I walked the twists out I had no problems
For years the rat race had me going around in circles, Now I do it for fun!

In the old days I used almost nothing but Seven Strand after discovering them.. We also sold them at Lone star and over all had very few problems  or complaints. I liked the fact they were more flexible, but the one problem we did find is that sometimes they were slightly undersize...018 might be .0175 or even .0170. Never saw the problem you have on the spool. Do as Mark says, make up one end, run them out holding pressure between thumb and finger and put a pretty good pull to stretch them, then make up the other end.. I usually ran them out twice just to be sure all twist are gone..

If it is the 7 strand cable sold by "Fly by Wire" I have bought several spools from that vendor on E-bay and never had a problem. Even met him at a contest at Whittier Narrows a few years ago. 8)
