Title: 2015 Brodaks Lodging
Post by: peabody on January 31, 2015, 01:07:56 PM
I just received the following from Holiday Inn:
"Dear M. Peabody,

Re: Confirmation No. 65587257

As one of our valued IHG Reward Club members, we are writing you regarding your upcoming reservation for the Holiday Inn Uniontown, PA. We wanted to take the time to inform you that the hotel is no longer part of the IHG family of hotels.  I would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you.

The hotel has assured us they will still be able to honor your reservation. Unfortunately, they will be unable to offer IHG Reward Club benefits, points, or credit for the stay.  If you have any questions or would like to cancel your reservation, you may contact the hotel directly.  The phone number to the hotel is (719) 539-8500
If you prefer to stay with another IHG property where you can enjoy all the benefits of the IHG Rewards Club program, we invite you to contact us at one of the telephone numbers listed below.. Our highly skilled agents will be happy to assist with finding alternate accommodations. Alternatively, you may also visit our website at www.ihg.com.

As an IHG Rewards Club member, we realize you have many choices when it comes to your travel needs. We greatly appreciate your understanding in this matter and thank you for your patronage.  We look forward to the opportunity to host you as our guest at another IHG property in the near future.

Sincerely,

Sylvia Gibson
Relocation Specialist"

Rooms are scarce in the area because of fracking.

Have fun!

IHG call centers infuriate me.  I think they moved them to India or someplace.  I had to move my KOI and Nats reservations to non-IHG hotels to get away from the godawful call center for reservations.

I always call a hotel to get a reservation, I don't trust the remote sites. That hotel is nice and reasonable. But 3 mile hill was an eye opener.

I will be staying at one of the campgrounds this year.  Had it with the hotel. Maybe the Firehouse RV Campground in Jefferson, PA.
Not too far from Brodaks.  About $100.00 for the week, with electric, and the bath house is nice and clean.
I am at the Fly-in all day, so just need a place to sleep. The people that run this campground are super friendly.
No call center to deal with.  I call and tell the date I will arrive and the guy on the phone says "yea we have room for you"
I asked him where to send the deposit money and he says "just show up".  Larry

I always call the hotel direct also.  This year I reserved at the Super 8 in Uniontown -  looked like the most competitive rate for the area ????

Camping right across the street is always free.Who needs electricity when you can fly from dawn til dusk and tell tall tales of flying machines past after dark. The best way to a great Brodak experience!!!!Besides,ya can't watch Danny fly the jet,or the giant Slob,or..............if you're sitting in a motel room.

Here's what John sent me today...

The Holliday Inn in Uniontown is now called Park Inn by Radisson. We are still using it as our hotel in Uniontown their phone number is 724-437-2816
Sounds like an upgrade....

Have fun!

Fraking is a form of energy production the gives good jobs to Americans.

We get domestic fuel and Americans make big money and pay big taxes.  Win win win.
The downside is that these American workers stay at the Holiday Inn on expense account and they don't care what the rooms cost.   So somebody that comes to town for five days and hopes to get a bargain room price is on thin ice to say the least.

Good news - gasoline prices are down from $4 to $2.
Bad news - hotels are not cheap.

It all depends on how much practice flying you want and how long you plan to party at the end.

Basically it's Tuesday through Saturday.   I bagged a room at the Super 8 in Uniontown.  Six Mexican dinners in a row is OK with me.

If I get to go again, I will probably stay in Waynesburg again.   They had  a lot more motels than listed and new ones being built.

2015 will be the 19th year.
John wants to go out on a positive note, and figures 20 is plenty.
It has grown to the largest control line event on the Planet.

I imagine that 2016 will see a lot of folks that have attended in the past coming to reminisce .....

I've only missed one and hope to make the last two.

It is by far the biggest and best contest I have been to in recent years. Its bigger than the NATS, more friendly and cooler temps by far.

One of the few places where my wife can eat what with her health problems, is there any Chinese Buffett nearby The Fly-In?  I'm aware of the Chinese restaurant as one drives into Carmichael, but we could use directions to a good Chinese Buffett. A PM or two would be just fine.
