Golden State has always been one of the top stunt contests in the US.  The move from Clovis to Madera 3 years ago has proven to be a real winner.  Great flying facility, great accommodations within 1/4 mile of the field and some of the best contest organization I've seen.  Bryan and his crew do an outstanding job, and it's much appreciated.  Last year there were 25 flyers in Expert class with heaven only knows how many National Championships flyers, and US and Canadian World Championship team members competing.  A field that rivals the US Nats for sure.  I attended the GSSC for the first time in 2001 and didn't make the trip again until 2012.  Now it has become a must do contest for my schedule.  Hey it's only 1000 miles one way for 2 official flights.
Mr. Walker and I will be arriving on Thursday around noon.  Look forward to seeing everyone there.

No sponsorship money, but plenty of free hot dogs with spicy brown mustard await! I would think that would be more that enough! Actually, we will be adding to the menu this year. Free hot dogs on Friday, and free ??? Sat & Sun.  ;D

What Alan said.

I have a mere 630 miles to travel from the Phoenix area, the guys from Tucson about 100 more.
Plan to arrive Thu evening.  Looking forward to a great weekend

Jim,
A mere 630, just a walk in the park.  Now the Tucson crew, there's a bunch of real men.  I'm amazed they even talk to you.  Look forward to our annual get together.

My problem is that if I was to go, my route down would be about 1,050 miles and my route back would be about 1,600 miles (via Death Valley/Boise route), 'cause I'd have to visit my brother over in Ridgecrest. I'd like to do the drive, and even visit with my bro, but the charge card would take months to pay off. Realistically,  I'd be in debt until at least February, what with Christmas and all. Plus, I'm dieting, and hotdogs are verboten. Then again, I didn't go to Edmonton for "Perry Fire" because the date mysteriously got changed to coincide with our Scobee Memorial. I think that was a plot...  ;) Steve

I flew the Golden State Stunt Champs two or three years.  But I was living nearby in CA. These days, I'm restricted to local contests in OR.

LMAO, with the cost of the rental rate for the plane, it would probably cost me my entire refund I just got from the school.

Brightbill....I'll email you the info tonight.  You could stay a couple of weeks after the Fall Fest and come fly Stunt.  Be there or be square.  See you in Visalia.   Shawn

Tom,
If you go to Golden State I will give you those plans you wanted.  Of course if you are in Auburn this weekend I will have them with me.  Get up the nerve to fly it yet?

Hi Alan,  It's ready, definitely more so than I am.  I'm thinking sometime next week after I return from the NWSS soaring tournament that is this weekend, otherwise I would be in Auburn. Golden State is calling, just don't know yet, it's two weeks after a big season ending soaring contest in Visalia.  That's a hell of a lot of driving. Hmmm-

Ted

The school gives out refunds for extra money you applied for, for financial aid that the school didn't need. People, including myself use as money to live off of so we depend on those refunds.

I'm still waiting on the day when I get the opportunity to meet you as well Ted!  H^^
