Those are some awesome machines. Far cry from the little 18 inch saw I used on the farm while in high school. Cut many chord of fire wood with it. Never thought of competing with it. By the way Briggs & Straten engine were not light. D>K

Several years ago I needed a chainsaw and dragged my Dad's old McCulloch out. What a frustrating POS that was! It really needed some sort of compression release to keep from spraining my hand when it fired. Once running, it was kinda noisy. I went out & bought a corded 120v AC Greenworks chainsaw and love that thing. Started good! Reasonably quiet, especially after the motor went up in a large puff of smoke. Greenworks sent me a new one, free, and didn't want the old one back, so I've got some spare parts.
Meanwhile, I had a pile of plum trees in the driveway and needed to get it cut and transported to a friend that burns for heat. So I bought a second...Greenworks chainsaw at Tractor Supply, after which the replacement one came from China via Eastern Canada. I helped my fishing buddy remove a couple of crabapple trees and cut that up, too. No more smoke shows so far. Now I've got 2.5 electric chainsaws, which is probably the right number to have on hand. See, I really do like electrons when they have a good purpose.
I wonder what the chainsaw competition organizers and competitors would say if somebody showed up with a really killer electric chainsaw? I bet somebody would pitch a fit because of the obvious unfair advantage. Others would just say they're not interested in electric motors and batteries that go up in flames. Yeah, I bet that would happen. S?P Steve

Oh by the way I do have an electric chain saw after the big elm in the back yard went down. Had it piled up by the street and had Marrs Tree service come and put the other half on the ground. Same with the oak in the front yard. My son-in-law and his brother cut up what they wanted for fire wood as well as a couple of people that came by. Finally a friend of my son's boss came by and loaded up what was left with his bob cat and trucks. Still have my electric saw even if it is only a 13 inch. D>K

I have used several chain saws over the years. Biggest problem was keeping chains sharp. Recently I bought a carbide tippet chin. Now that's the cat's meow. A little $$$$ but you gets what you pay for. D>K
