Looking for old style 1x1 shaped balsa leading edge for a vintage combat plane I'm building. Similar to the old S1 Ringmaster leading edge only bigger. LHS use to have them but they closed up.

  Google is your friend:

Motorman,
Another option is Sig. I have bought multiple sizes from them. I always buy a few to ensure I get at least one straight one.

Actually, I just check Sig. they're only showing 1x 3/4 not 1x1.

I have some of that shaped leading edge material. You may have it. I'll see how straight it is.

MM,
I checked my recently built Hatchet. I did use the Sig 3/4x1. Pictured is the profile. I also checked my kit built VooDoo and that also has a 3/4x1 leading edge. I also noticed the 1x1 looked a bit pointy as well. As we have learned over the years blunt is better.

FYI- that's 3/4" deep x 1" height

Hope this helps and hope you make the vintage combat day!

best,
Tom

Some of those leading edge shapes are almost triangles the one I'm looking for is a bullet shape.

Have at it:

I believe the Midwest leading edges are what you are looking for.

I believe the Midwest leading edges are what you are looking for.

This is probably the correct vendor for the LE.
But! I've found it best to do a parabolic cut and make a LE shaper on the table saw when you can't find exactly what you're after.

Why not take a 1x1 piece of balsa and shape it to what you want?  It will likely be straighter than the shaped piece you purchase and you can be more selective as to the density/strength you want.

I would just redraw the ribs and go with a built up or a molded leading edge.
